Good news.
Sun released jdk1.2.2 in early access in developer.javasoft.com.
I know it's only windows but we need to bang on it so that
when we get the source code for linux it's in good shape.
I don't want sun releasing more buggy stuff.

It is, but the JDK in question is 1.1.

There was a nomenclature change (several in rapid succession, actually),
but it happened many months ago. The current release of Swing for 1.1
has the same package name (javax.swing) as the core Swing in 1.2.

I had thought that JFC was now part of the 1.2 standard release. But there
was a nomemclature change in their usage going from 1.1 to 1.2, I believe
that they are now in a new package.

One thing that helped get jdk1.1.x working on my redhat-6.0 machine (and
this was the only thing I had to do) was to uninstall kaffe.

Swing is a seperate package, available from Sun/Javasoft
(http://java.sun.com)
Try the Swing-1.1.1 Beta 2 package.

I downloaded the jdk 1.1.7 version 3 for linux (redhat, glibc). While
attempting to compile an applet, I imported the javax.swing package.
Unfortunately, it said it couldn't find this. Is this because your port
is only the core classes, not swing or other add-ons. If so, how can I
obtain a port of
Hi,
You have to add classes.zip file in the
CLASSPATH variable. I have also read somewhere
to avoid using ~ in CLASSPATH. Here is my CLASSPATH
variable:
CLASSPATH=.:/u2/jdk117_v3/lib/classes.zip:
/opt/swing-1.1/swingall.jar:/opt/CoreJavaBook:
/usr/lib/pgsql/postgresql.jar

Splendid idea! I would suggest, for comprehensiveness, your list include
all environment variables -- don't leave out CLASSPATH.

I recently downloaded your version of JDK1.2 pre v1 and I am havig a
problem getting a window (Frame or JFrame) to appear on screen, when I
declare a new Frame (or JFrame) and try to display it on screen, I get
the following error:
java.lang.UnsatisfiedLinkError:libfontmanager.so:libstdc++-libc6.
I'd like to make a list of all the environment variables the Blackdown
JDK uses to change its operation. I don't think there is a
comprehensive list anywhere. Here's what I know, can others correct
this or add to the list? Maybe we can get it into README.linux on the
next release.

Hi.
I has wondering if it would be possible to download the version of
jdk you are working on now. The reason is that I'm handing my university
thesis
in about a month from now and I would like to get my program running on
Linux.
If this isn't possible do you know when the next release date will
