The minimum requirements for 1.3 are: Kernel 2.2.16, glibc-2.1.3,
XFree 3.3.6 (but I would recommend a 2.4 kernel and glibc-2.2.4).
Most
2.4 of the FAQ is a bit old.
What are the requirements for 1.3 and what will be the
requirements for 1.4?

Hello all,
What I have to do is set up a freebsd box with java 1.3. We dev on linux
boxen, and I was hoping to lean on fbsd's linux compatiblity mode, and just
install. Is there any problems with that approach?

sure these packages will do what you want, might be worth a look though

With your example below, your are limiting your graphs to trees. For
example, how are you going to draw the edge from "root" to
"subdirectory1"?
Anyway, there's nothing linux-specific about this.

Hi,
I am looking for graphical program in Java which can draw directed graph
(or other graph-like structures) as a typical MS directory pattern:
+ root
|
+--+ directory1
||
| + directory2
||
||
||
||
||
|+ subdirectory1
.
Parallel port support builds in rxtx but I have had
minimal feedback. Simple read/write should work with
little or no midifications to the driver.
Let me know how it goes.

mentioned
there that there is no
parallel port support (i.e from native Linux code) from Java for Linux. Can
any one update me on this?

VisualAge for Java? It's a linux/x86 binary. It was probably developed
with IBM's VisualAge for Smalltalk, strangely enough.

This implementation is not pure java , however I'm not sure if there is any
reason why it can't
run on an Linux Alpha port, short of a recompile.

Is OpenSpot available for Linux? I have a server-side Java app that
needs to perform well and I would like to run it on Linux. It is a
console app with no graphics. Any suggestions would be greatly
appreciated ...

This is to let you know that IBM has released a technical preview of
VisualAge for Java for Linux. I downloaded it and installed it in my
Debian 2.0 box and the environment is the very same as the other
versions they have with similar features and look. IBM stated that this

I have install the rpm package (jdk-sbb-1.1.6-4a.glibc.i386.rpm) from redhat's ftp on

I am very now to this environment so any help would be greatly appreciated.
