xample of this by checking you PATH variable in
your environment, as in "echo $PATH".
Hope this helps.

I have gotten it to run on my machine. It is stated somewhere in the
documentation for NetBeans that it is very likely to hang on the
splash screen and that they are working to try to resolve this. I was
running JDK1.1.5v7 and never did get past the splash screen (they
plainly state that for
with great results.

guys, this is fast on an old i486. Very impressive.
Adam,
This is where these are defined on my system /usr/X11R6/lib/X11/XKeysymDB. But
make sure that you have a link to them from here also
/usr/X386/lib/X11/XKeysymDB. If for some reason you don't have this file
(XKeysymDB) a good copy of it comes with Netscape that you can copy over to these
locations.
Hope this helps,

I don't know about using the glibc version on Slackware. I have always used
the libc5 versions of the JDK and on my new Slackware 3.5 system I am running
JDK1.1.6v4a libc5 version out of the box (with no lib modifications, etc.)
with no problems so far. I haven't pushed the envelope on this new system
whatsoever because I haven't had time yet but with the minor testing I've done
I haven't had a problem.

ols for development
and only minor cost for support for end users. And the icing on the cake came
last week when they released their 100% Java JDBC drivers for 2 tier
architecture for FREE. I have not used the JDBC drivers yet but I think its
worth a look.
my 2 cents,

If you are looking for the i386 version I know that the
ftp://ftp.tux.org/pub/java/ mirror has v4 for libc5.
Hope this helps,

ariables set with anything to
do with JDK are:
JDK_HOME="location of JDK root directory" and
PATH includes "$JDK_HOME/bin" and that's it.
No CLASSPATH, etc.
One other thing that might be different is that I downloaded the install
class and not the ".sh"
Hope this helps,

problem? We are having a similar problem on Slackware 3.4 with one of our
programs and have had to revert back to JDK1.1.6v2 libc5.

No. I did not.

d libdl.so.1 in the directory
/lib/i386/green_threads to some other name just so that it
can't be found by those names. If I am not mistaken it is a conflict
with the versions of the libs that come with the JDK and the ones linux
uses. If this doesn't work send the output from the command "ldconfig
-v".
Hope this helps,
