[JAWS-Users] Word 2000 and Menus Problem

2007-01-11 Thread Taika

I am having a problem with Word 2000. I use XP Home, JAWS 6.0, Outlook
Express and Word 2000.
For some reason, when I am in a Word Document, either reading one or
creating one, when I press the alt key for menus, JAWS is silent.
Maneuvering with the Say Line and JAWS cursor, I can get things done,
usually, but in a very laborious way which also wastes valuable time.

I am sure that I must have accidentally checked or unchecked some setting
somewhere. Have I given enough information for anybody to recognize what
could be going on and how I can fix it?
Thanks always.

[JAWS-Users] Conversion of Audio Files.

2007-01-11 Thread Victor Gouveia
My apologies for the cross post, but I don't know which of the lists I belong
to will consider this subject appropriate topic for discussion.

I have come into possession of some DAISY audio material that I would like to
rip from CD and onto my computer for easier listening while learning what I
have to learn from them.

Is this a possible thing to do?

Is there an audio program that will rip, or convert DAISY audio format files
from CD to MP3 or some other format that will allow me to listen to them on my
computer.

I don't want to have to install a DAISY audio program onto my computer, and
besides, I will have to return the original CD's to their rightful owner in a
few days, which will take me longer to read them.

Does anyone have any ideas?

Victor

[JAWS-Users] Re: Word 2000 and Menus Problem

2007-01-11 Thread Taika

I can determine that when I have a new Word Document open, in other words, I
have opened Word 2000 and a document is there for the writing, with the
silence, in the View Menu I can determine with the Jaws cursor that Normal
is not checked and I know it should be.
Who can tell me how to check Normal so that it will say, Normal Checked???
I have tried the spacebar and that doesn't seem to work. I have also tried
to left click it with the JAWS cursor and still it will not check.
Thanks greatly.

[JAWS-Users] printing business cards using JAWS?

2007-01-11 Thread ANDREW GODWIN
Greetings All, Was wondering if any one could answer the below question
from a friend. He is using XP with JAWS and MS Word 2003.

How would one go about printing business cards with a computer and a printer?
Is there a program for doing such a thing?

Thanks,
Andrew

Do you have Norton antivirus running? If you have, you may need to disable its
office plug-in for Word to work correctly. (But not having Norton myself, I'll
wait till somebody who has it can enlighten, if that is the issue.)

[JAWS-Users] Re: printing business cards using JAWS?

2007-01-11 Thread Annette Carr
Under the Tools menu there is an item for envelops and labels. You have to
go in and move to the labels tab. There is a way in there to select the
label layout. I believe there is one for business cards. If he has already
bought the laser printer card stock to print the cards on, he need to get
the number off of the cards, or the package.

Let me know if you have more questions.

[JAWS-Users] Re: COMPARING ANTI-VIRUS PROGRAMS

Hi John, it's been too long since we've spoken. Any how down to business,
sorry I have no information on spy sweeper but I do use AVG professional

With luck somebody else of the almost 200 members on here might be able to
help you out a little further than I can.

Hi group:
I don't write much but this is something I could really use a little help
with.
I have the opportunity to use 2 anti-virus programs. One is the AVG
version which will replace the older AVG Free.
The other program is an addition to my Spy Sweeper. Here's my concern. The
AVG program reads quite well with Jaws as you all know. On the other hand,
it's a lot harder to read Spy Sweeper in some of its modes. In fact, you
have to use another cursor such as the Jaws or Invisible to access some
information. How will the Spy Sweeper Anti-virus program work?
Will it effect how the rest of the software works?
This new part of the Spy Sweeper is relatively recent so maybe no one has
had the time to look at it yet.

If anyone has information about the accessibility of these programs, I'd
really appreciate help.

Thanks so much.

[JAWS-Users] Re: Odd behavior with Jaws 8 and Excel

2007-01-11 Thread Ricque

Hi Jeffrey,
Is it possible for you to load Jaws after Windows has loaded, or

If you can, give this a try, and see if it makes any improvement.

I'm running the most current of Jaws on an XP Home Edition operating system,
and when I open a workbook, Jaws does not always complete the expected
announcements, i.e., the contents and coordinates of the cell where the
cursor is positioned. If I use the insert+f4 command, and then Escape
instead of unloading Jaws, the contents and coordinates are announced, and
everything works fine.

Has anyone else experienced this behavior, and is there a more permanent
solution than I have found?

Thanks,
Jeffrey

 Subject: [JAWS-Users] COMPARING ANTI-VIRUS PROGRAMS

On the other
 hand,
it's a lot harder to read Spy Sweeper in some of its modes.

[JAWS-Users] Re: Copy Paste

2007-01-11 Thread Margaret Thomas

Maria,

I'm not getting this to work here with JAWS 6.2, Word 2000, and XP
Home. Is this part of the FS Clipboard thing that was introduced with
JFW 7? I took 7 for a brief test drive and did try out the new
clipboard feature, but got side-tracked configuring 7 to my liking and
went back to 6.2 when other projects required my attention and I've
forgotten how the FS clipboard works.

If you don't mean the FS Clipboard and are referring to a Windows
command, could you go into more detail about the proper sequence to
add items to the clipboard?

Thanks,

Margaret

I use control + c to copy something to my clipboard. I remember
 hearing
some time ago that the was
a key combo that you could use to add something to the original
 copy, but
 I can't remember what it
was. Could someone please refresh old Scooter's memory on that?
 Thanks.

 See ya,

Yes, the windows key plus C copy to clipboard command is for the FS
clipboard.
