[JAWS-Users] Re: Skipping headers in Outlook Express

2007-04-30 Thread Margaret Thomas

Denny,

I also get a couple of the Kim Kommando mailings such as her Tip
of the day and I'm able to do the letter h and down arrow twice to get
right to the tip. I tried the letter p you suggested and the h is
fewer keystrokes for me.

Margaret

Denny Huff wrote:

Yes, that will jump past the headers, but I also use the letter p to

a lot of stuff I don't want to read in some email messages.
For example, I get the Kim Kommando tip of the day and she has a lot
of ads
before she gets to the tip, so I keep typing the letter p until I get
to
that part of the newsletter.
Just a suggestion for some of your email messages.

Hi Denny, Thanks for your suggestion. However, David's instructions

Thanks again anyway! Vicky

[JAWS-Users] DEC--Talk Access 32 JFW 7.0

2007-02-23 Thread Margaret Thomas

Hi All,

I don't like Eloquence and have been using the GW Micro version of
DEC-Talk Access 32 with JAWS since JFW 3.x and the last couple of
days, I haven't been able to use the DEC-Talk at all with JAWS 7.0 and
can't even switch synths with Control-Insert-S.

My tech came to work on some other things at the beginning of the
month and I had him work on getting the DEC-Talk to come up talking
with JFW 7.0. It worked for a couple of days and then I had the same
problem I'm having now and he semmed to get it working again although
it wasn't perfect. I'd get the infamous your copy of DEC-Talk Access
32 is not authorized to run on this computer message about other time,
but I could turn off the computer and it might take a couple of
repeats, but it would eventually work. I turned off the machine on
Wednesday when I left the house and I've gotten the error message
every time I boot up and can't switch synths.

At this point, I would happily let Eloquence load and manually
switch synths to the DEC-Talk. My tech put zjaws in the startup
submenu. I don't know if the z is a typo on his part or if he did
something special and added the z to distinguish it somehow.

I have DEC-Talk Access 32 instead of Via Voice with OpenBook and
when I loaded OB this morning to read my mail, I got an error message
about a server problem and Dec-Talk access 32, so now I can't even
read my mail.

It's XP Home with SP2 and the DEC--Talk access 32 is 4.x. I think
it's 4.53. I'm running JAWS in the sys tray.

Any help in getting things back to normal would be greatly
appreciated.

Margaret

[JAWS-Users] Re: Progress Bar Announcements in J 7.0 OE

2007-01-27 Thread Margaret Thomas

I thought about trying Maria's suggestion, but now it seems to be
working as it should. We'll see.

After I posted, I had a thought on why JAWS might be saying 100%
twice. Control-M is for both send and receive messages, so maybe one
100% is for sending and the second 100% is for receiving. I usually
send messages immediately, so hadn't thought of the sending part. JFW
was also saying the percentages with IE, so I'll have to see if that
seems to straighten out on its own. I'd already done a cold boot so
it may be another one for the shrug column.

 Hi All,

I'm still trying to set up JAWS 7.0 to my liking and JFW is still
announcing the percentage of downloaded mail when I do a Control-M
 in
Outlook Express and progress bar announcement updates is set at off
 in
outlook express 5-6.jcf - JAWS Configuration Manager. I have cable,
so it's rather annoying and JFW 6.2 didn't announce the progress
 with
announcements set at 5 second intervals. I tried setting them at 5
second intervals in 7.0, but it didn't help. JAWS often announces
 100
% twice just to be sure I might not have gotten it the first time.

I looked at the Technical Service Bulletins for OE at the FS site
and there weren't any related to the problem.

I have XP Home with SP2 and it's OE 6 and IE6. I haven't tried
changing the setting in the default.jcf - JAWS Configuration Manager
since there might be a program where I might want announcements.
 Has
anyone experienced a similar problem or am I missing something here?

Thanks,

 Margaret

[JAWS-Users] Silencing Deleted in OE-JFW 7.0 Solved

Subject: [JAWS-Users] Silencing Deleted in OE-JFW 7.0

Hi All,

I'm trying to configure JAWS 7.0 to my liking and would like to
stop JFW from saying deleted when hitting the delete key in an open
message.

I found an old post on another list from Debbie in which she gave
instructions for doing it in 7.1, but her instructions don't seem to
match in 7.0:
Don't perform these steps unless you are comfortable making script
changes.

In OE, press insert 0 (on the number row) to open the OE scripts file.

You need to comment out two lines in the scripts.

Press control L (or go to the script menu, script list) and press D
and find

the script

DeleteMessage and enter.

Arrow down in the script to the line that says the following and put a

semicolon in front of it like this:

;SayFormattedMessage (ot_status, msg_DeleteMessage_L,
msg_DeleteMessage_S)

Now press control L again and this time press J and then find the
script

JAWSDelete and enter.

You will find the same line as above in that script also.

Put a semicolon in front of the line in this script too.

Then press control S to compile, alt f4 to leave script manager.

I may need more caffeine but the line in the jaws delete script
does not seem to be the same as the delete message script. I've
looked at the jaws-users home page under tips and tricks and also the
scripts link and didn't seem anything related to the script. The
Helpful Hint on the JFWlite page seems to be for earlier versions of
JAWS. Are the instructions for silencing the pesky thing the same for
7.0 as for 7.1 or am I not seeing straight?

Thanks,

Margaret

Subject: [JAWS-Users] Adobe Reader 8 and JAWS

Hi All,

I understand that a new threat has been associated with Adobe
Acrobat 7 and that a couple of the computer newsletters I get have
suggested that folks run, not walk to get Adobe Reader 8 which seems
to be the new name of our old friend Acrobat and I was wondering how
accessible it is with JAWS 6.2 and up? I've checked posts on all the
JAWS lists I'm on and haven't seen any comments from brave folks who
have tried it. It sounds like the new version is really big and has
been tested with the Beta version of Vista, and one newsletter said
folks with Win 98 are out of luck and can't run the new offering on
their machines.

I'll check the FS site after more caffeine and a break, but was
hoping to take care of this now if the new version works well for us.

Thanks,

Margaret

[JAWS-Users] Re: Copy Paste

2007-01-11 Thread Margaret Thomas

Maria,

I'm not getting this to work here with JAWS 6.2, Word 2000, and XP
Home. Is this part of the FS Clipboard thing that was introduced with
JFW 7? I took 7 for a brief test drive and did try out the new
clipboard feature, but got side-tracked configuring 7 to my liking and
went back to 6.2 when other projects required my attention and I've
forgotten how the FS clipboard works.

If you don't mean the FS Clipboard and are referring to a Windows
command, could you go into more detail about the proper sequence to
add items to the clipboard?

Thanks,

Margaret

[JAWS-Users] Re: is there a jaws-friendly money program?

2006-12-03 Thread Margaret Thomas

Hi All,

I apologize to the group-it seems that the URL I gave earlier for
the manual for Money Talks doesn't work if you don't already have the
program. Hopefully, this one will do the trick:

http://www.aph.org/tech/mt_info.htm

I should probably add that I haven't tried using the check
printing feature yet. I wish Money Talks had a calculator and
calendar which I believe Talking Check Book does. It's been a while
since I tried it and my memory may be wrong.

I'll look around some more if this URL doesn't work for people.

Margaret

Earlier I wrote:

Marilyn,

Money Talks will still work if you don't do your banking online
and you don't have to download any files. You can reconcile using
paper statements, using the bank's telephone service (call their
number, punch in your PIN and get your balance and the numbers of
checks that have cleared etc.), download a file from your online
account, or a combination of the above.

There's a copy of the manual at:

C:\Program Files\aph\Money Talks\mt_doc.htm

There's a Beta version of Money Talks and I believe the latest
changes aren't reflected in the document on that page.

If so, I have an sometimes problem when selecting and email address

wanted to copy the sender's email address Jaws doesn't always say the

Any thoughts on this?

I still am using Jaws 7.10 right now.
