David (and list) I have had this problem for some time and Walt tried extensively to help me out. I'm using WinXP Pro, JAWS 8 and Outlook2000 When I hit Shift+JAWS insert+R All I get is a question mark in the To field. Anyone else with my specs above get this to work? thanks Al -Original Message- From: jaws-users-list@googlegroups.com [mailto:[EMAIL PROTECTED] Behalf Of David The WildThing! In previous versions, when you wanted to reply to the sender of a message on a mailing list, you had to choose Reply, copy the sender's address into the To edit box, and delete the mailing list's address. - Original Message - From: "Robert S. From there you can do a Shift+ left or right arrow to highlight the individuals name then Ctrl +C to copy it from there you can paste it anywhere, much like spit wads in high school. If you are using a version earlier than 7.1 You can use the alt +the 1 tapped twice and copy the address. In a new message just paste the address in the to field. If you are replying to the message, you will have to delete the list address and paste the address in the to field. Hi David, So are you saying that the instructions are up on the homepage to set up a keystroke that will allow a person to send a message directly to a person, as opposed to the list that the message is being sent on behalf of? I am very interested in this keystroke as it would help me in my moderator duties on some of the other lists I'm on. Occasionally, as you may or may not know, it is prudent, if not more polite, to respond directly to a person, to berate them, or, to be more politically correct, to guide them in their traversing of the e-mail list rules and guidelines, and this keystroke would sure help a great deal, and cut down on any unnecessary steps in the process. Thanks for the explanation David. Like I said, I couldn't understand why the hotkey wasn't working for me, and with your message, now I understand that it is only available from version 7.10 and on. This would of course make this a Jaws keystroke, and not a Windows keystroke like some others were saying. Thanks again. [JAWS-Users] Re: jaws hot key question-outlook
All right folks before anybody including me has a stroke today here's the deal. In version 7.1 and above the shift+insert+I keystroke is included. In version 7.0 the script is included but the keystroke needs to be added in manually. Next control+r is not a JAWS keystroke at all, what it does is reply to sender which in this case sends your message back to the list. Now say for example if I send a message to Donnie and carbon Patty and if either of them would like to reply to both of us then they would use the control+shift+R key combination. That would send a message back to me and the other person as well. This would work no matter how many people are involved in this sinarreo. Now when anybody is ready to add in the before mentioned keystroke look up on the tips and tricks page because the instructions have been up there for quite a long time already. This is what you said. and you only want to reply to the sender of the message, then you would use a insert shift r to reply to just the sender of the message. What's New in JAWS 7.10 Reply Directly to Senders on Mailing Lists Outlook and Outlook Express users who subscribe to mailing lists now have the ability to reply directly to the message sender's address, rather than the mailing list address, by pressing SHIFT+INSERT+R. In previous versions, when you wanted to reply to the sender of a message on a mailing list, you had to choose Reply, copy the sender's address into the To edit box, and delete the mailing list's address. - Original Message - From: "Robert S. JAWS 7 didn't have that keystroke assigned in the key manager file. I was under the impression you were using 8 or I wouldn't have given you that information. Version 7 does have that script included but you must manually assign the keystroke yourself. [JAWS-Users] Re: jaws hot key question
Hi Victor, There seems to be some confusion here. Control + R, and Control +shift +R, are Outlook Express keystrokes, and are for replying to sender, and replying to all, respectively. The Jaws keystroke for replying privately to someone on a list, is user defined, and can be changed from the script manager. [JAWS-Users] Re: jaws hot key question
Depending on how a list is set up, a control r will normally reply to everyone on the list. However, some lists are set up so that the control r will only go to the sender of the message and not to the entire list. In this case, you would use control shift r to reply to the entire list. If the list is set up so that the control r will reply to the entire list, and you only want to reply to the sender of the message, then you would use a insert shift r to reply to just the sender of the message. These reply options will work in Outlook and Outlook Express both. -Original Message- From: jaws-users-list@googlegroups.com [mailto:[EMAIL PROTECTED] On Behalf Of Donnie Parrett Sent: Sunday, December 17, 2006 11:21 PM To: jaws-users-list@googlegroups.com Subject: [JAWS-Users] Re: jaws hot key question What is the difference between control+ shift + R and just control + R? did you have the email open first before pressing them keys? if not jaws will say...replying to sender no open message. so you must have the email open first for them keys to work and them keys are...insert-shift-r you can continue pressing control R if you are replying to someone's post on the jaws users list which will go to everyone on the list. [JAWS-Users] Re: jaws hot key question
Well now I have a bit of a problem after testing that Control J command..all of the emails are grouped as expanded or unexpanded. That never was the case until I did that control J. I have checked the box to expand all grouped messages but would rather it go back the way it was before i even learned of the control J so is there a way to undo all this? So when I am up/down arrowing in my inbox all the messages will read as read/unread and not as expanded/unexpanded? I forgot about the control y, it will let you pick the folder you want to go to in O. E. Just hit control y and the letter of the folder you're looking for and enter.
