The latest version of jaws 9 is: JAWS Version 9.0.2169U
This version has been out for a few months now and it must have been the one
you downloaded. I just checked for updates and was informed I had the latest
update available.

You started right but got off track.
From Documents and Settings to Owner is probably correct.
But then you need Application Data
Then Microsoft
Then Templates
In the Template folder you will find the Normal.dot file that you want to
delete.
If you don't find it there, check other folders

When I open volume control from the system tray Jaws reads layer menues
and nothing else. How do I remove volume control from the system tray and
reinstall it so that it works correctly? All advice will be greatly

How long has this been? Perhaps if you restart your computer your volume
will be in your System Tray in its usual conformation. Also, why not open
the volume control via Start menu, programs, Accessories Submenu,
Entertainment Submenu, or Control panel etc., and manipulate it there.

It sounds like there could be something obscuring the window.
Either unload, and reload Jaws, or try a re-boot.
As for the volume icon,
control panel, sound and audio devices
when that opens, tab to the checkbox to show the volume icon on the task
bar, and uncheck it.
Tab to the okay
It will not work at all until JAWS 10 is posted.

need to route jaws to pc, instead when you go to the corresponding lines,

Those newer real speak voices will only work with version 10? I didn't yet
download 10, and downloaded the voices I preferred from the real speak page.
They were installed, but didn't work with my version 9. So, will they only
work with 10?
