Patti, You started right but got off track. From Documents and Settings to Owner is probably correct. But then you need Application Data Then Microsoft Then Templates In the Template folder you will find the Normal.dot file that you want to delete. If you don't find it there, check other folders

How long has this been? Perhaps if you restart your computer your volume will be in your System Tray in its usual conformation. Also, why not open the volume control via Start menu, programs, Accessories Submenu, Entertainment Submenu, or Control panel etc., and manipulate it there. -
