Yes, I've done this before with putting a 1 or a 0 in the cell so that I
could count how many rows met a certain criteria. So for example, if I want
to keep track of how many people had paid their dues, in the Paid column I
would enter a 1 if they paid, or a 0 if they had not. Then I would have
I'm receiving conflicting reports on the program. Some folks are saying it's a
night mare, where others are touting it's virtues. I am thinking that more
opinions are in order before I subject myself to the inconvenience of trying
out something that might not work very well.

David,
It all depends on what you intend to use the program for. If it's just live
voice chat, then you'll be fine. But the text chat is a bit of a headache.
They do have up to date scripts for Skype 4.0 written by Doug Lee. I'm
using Skype 4.0 with the current scripts and it's working
The people who are working on Skype 4 haven't yet resolved all the
accessibility issues and when one tries to download the software, you are
advised to continue using Skype Version 3.8 until all the accessibility issues
have been resolved.
I downloaded Skype 4 but after trying to make a call
This is the kind of information I was after, thank you. I pretty much only
use it for voice chatting. I only use the text chatting when somebody else
starts it, but I've never liked that especially since my spelling isn't that
great.

I have never downloaded scripts before, I just downloaded 3.8 for skype. I
am new to skype. How do the script download work?

Interesting. I never saw any such message. I just clicked on the search
for updates link, and downloaded Skype 4.0. Besides, how does the website
know whether the person downloading it is blind or not?

Kathy,
The scripts make using Skype a lot more Jaws friendly. And you can get
scripts for any version of Skype. The more recent scripts are a .exe file.
This means that you don't need to know how to install them. They install
themselves. Just keep hitting the next button. Just make sure
I don't usually do this, but I feel that this explanation from Doug Lee
about Skype 4.0 is relevant to this topic.
Jack
Early Skype versions were less accessible than 3.x. As far as I know,
most of 3.x evolved out of 1.x and 2.x. Accessibility for those
versions evolved along with Skype itself
Good morning,
The site doesn't need to know if te user is visually impaired to alert
them to the best option for a visually impaired user.

Maybe, but I still didn't get the message in question about downloading
Skype 4.0. I ran the update, it downloaded and installed like all the
updates before it.

Well done. Thank you for sending those out. Remember, those keys are
windows commands. Anyone can perform them sighted or blind. JAWS commands
have to do with the numpad key or with the insert or JAWS key located on the
num pad. Great job. I'm sure that will help several members on this list.

Personally I like skype 4. You will need!!! to get the new scripts for it
(http://www.dlee.org/skype/skype4.php I think) and once it is installed, go
to tools/options/general and set the windows to classic, then to go the view
menu and activate compact view. Once this is done, everything

to read the chat messages as in skype via alt+1 to 0. but now this doesn't
work. so we're asking about scripts for jaws that works with this new
version windows live massenger 2009.
Does anyone know how to create custom toolbars in Word 2003? I want to put some
of my macros on a toolbar for easier access. Also, I would need to assign
macros to toolbar buttons. Does anyone know how to do this stuff in Word with
Jaws?
