I searched for the little button on my Inspiron 1545 but had no luck in finding it. However I did find in the control panel a mouse section and it appears that it did turn the mouse pad off unchecking the enable button but the left click button and the right click button right below the mouse

Josh: You disabled only the touch pad. If you want to disable the mouse buttons as well, go to Control Pannel, Mouse. The first menu you are on should be the Buttons menu. Tab to Click Lock Turn On and check the box there. Then Tab to Okay. This should disable your mouse buttons. HTH
