I knew that there was an option to control this. Setting to silent stopped the ding sound when reaching the top/bottom of file list. Unfortunately, it did not stop the ding sounds in Word 2003. Must be a bug. I know, why am I running Word 2003 on Win 7? Because that is what I own and it works
