Bob, Actually, after digging around in the jaws-users archive, I found the message I had remembered. It was from Eric Damery and referenced a MyExtensions.jss file. He explained that you should put your custom scripts in there so that they don't get over written in a JAWS upgrade. However,

You should put any changes you make in your user folder. If you want to make a change to the default scripts then copy the default.jss to your user folder and make the changes there. This preserves the jaws supplied scripts. If you break something all you need do is delete the script version
