About a year ago or so, a friend of mine who is a software engineer, came
to my house too help me setup my router for wireless on my laptop computer.
It’s a dell router. My questions are as follows. First, is either the
setup and configuration on my desktop
you need to go into the router settings. Two things in there you need
to grab and right down somewhere.
1. The SSID, witch is what your router broadcasts to the computer.
2. The wep key, its the security that the router is set for and is
easiest to get going, and still be secure.

Thanks for your help, but I have another question. Can you please
provide me with instructions on how too get into my router settings? Once
that happens, how do I begin the setup process from there. Are the
settings for the router on my desktop
Not sure if this will work with a dell router, but putting
192.168.1.1 should get you in the router and enter admin for user and
nothing for password. That is usually the default for all routers.
Then if that lets you in go to wireless for the SSID and then
wireless security for the wep key
