your computer including whether it is 32 or 64 bit, press Windows key-Pause
and use the JAWS cursor to read the information. The Pause key is the top
right-most key on your keyboard above the numpad

Hi, there is a much easier way! Go to your C drive. Open it, and look
through your folders, if you have a folder that says program files x86 you
have a 64 bit machine, however if you see only one program files folder,
that says just that "program files, " then you have a 32 bit machine. This
is
the way I do it is to press the Windows key together with the pause key, which
is at the far top-right of your keyboard. This lists many details about your
system. You need to switch to the JAWS cursor to read it. On my system, the bit
number is about ten lines down.

There was actually a 64-bit version of Windows XP, but not accessible with
any screen-reader.

I just bought a 64 bit Compact, And glad I did. All my old programs, so far
work on it. The only problem I had so far, was I loaded JAWS from the J 11
CD and the program would go into demo mode when ever.
Than I downloaded the updates for J 11 and the same thing happen.
