Hi friends,

Using the latest JAWS 2018 and Microsoft Outlook 2016.
If I open an email, I don't seem to be able to change in to JAWS cursor and
read the top of the message heading where the to and cc fields are which is
how I would normally check this.
Has anyone had any similar issues?
The only way I can read the to and cc fields is to shift+tab back to them
and it is sometimes useful to use the JAWS cursor to read the top part of
the screen.

I googled this topic and all I got were adds for MS office. I didn't
readily see any offering for a free download for sounds to use in MS Office
2013.

I looked for sounds at alt F; options T; and, although I found a similar
multi page assortment of options, I could not find anything about sounds.
Any ideas? thanks

[JAWS-Users] Fwd: major announcement

2018-07-19 Thread Brian Vogel
As an aside, I have been informed back channel that there exists a firm
rule that, "Thou shalt not criticize VFO," on this list that I had not been
exposed to since I've been getting the digests.

If that is the case, and the owner wishes to maintain that practice, a
merger with the Groups.io JAWS users group will be a no go. The group
culture would never, ever, support such a stricture. One of the great
things about the group is that unvarnished feedback can be offered (which
is not to say wild rants and flames are tolerated). One of the great
things is that VFO employees can see it, too, and feedback in virtual
realtime about recently released updates are worth their weight in gold
when they are something other than, "It's great, great, perfect!!"

User's groups exist to support users, not the software and/or hardware
maker of the product being used. The benefit to the manufacturer exists if
they monitor the groups, but is never a consideration in regulating what is
said (within the realm of common decency and avoiding flames/rants).

I am considering moving the list over to groups IO as I understand they seem to
have less problems of being bounced by various internet providers. Over the
years and especially lately we have lost a number of good members since their
providers will not allow messages from this domain to get to subscribers, and
as such they bounce and get removed by the server. I can’t even contact these
people privately since my email address is tied to this domain.

I have to bring my people up to date on groups IO next, the good thing it is a
lot easier to figure out than Mailman. It is almost 10 years since the last
move and with luck this will be the last. I do not know how much longer I will
keep running this beast, but believe it or not in October it will be 13 years.
Bob and I never figured on it lasting this long, There is obviously a need
which is the reason for keeping it.

superior one than some of the other mailing lists. I.E. Google Groups,

than the other set ups and a handy and useful feature that Groups.io has is
that you can easily mute a topic for those times when a thread is of no

2018-07-19 Thread Cristobal Muñoz
I in genral terms have found the Groups.IO mailing list experience to be a
superior one than some of the other mailing lists. I.E. Google Groups, Mailman,
etc. For one, the web interface is much easier to get around on than the other
set ups and a handy and useful feature that Groups.io has is that you can
easily mute a topic for those times when a thread is of no interest to me or if
begins to devolve and meander. I did not exerpeince this most recent hiccup
folks are talking about with bounce back and so on.

Re: [JAWS-Users] major announcement

2018-07-19 Thread Steve

David,

I run a pretty large list on Groups.io, the blind-hams list.

It has been good until mid-July, when it started bouncing some members. Of
some 240 members, nine were bouncing.

I sent "bounce reactivations" to them, and a majority I think are back on
with no problem. But, there were four people who I had to unsubscribe and
send them invitations to re-join.

I know that is still a better track record than the mailman lists, but just
want to let you know it isn't completely without some faults.

I am considering moving the list over to groups IO as I understand they
seem to have less problems of being bounced by various internet providers.
Over the years and especially lately we have lost a number of good members
since their providers will not allow messages from this domain to get to
subscribers, and as such they bounce and get removed by the server. I can’t
even contact these people privately since my email address is tied to this
domain.

I have to bring my people up to date on groups IO next, the good thing it
is a lot easier to figure out than Mailman. It is almost 10 years since
the last move and with luck this will be the last. I do not know how much
longer I will keep running this beast, but believe it or not in October it
will be 13 years. Bob and I never figured on it lasting this long, There
is obviously a need which is the reason for keeping it.

Good luck! earlier this week groups.io suffered some kind of issue, and many
people received messages from the server saying that their accounts had been
suspended because of bounces. This happened to me several times in the course
of a single day, and affected all groups on that server that I was subscribed
to. i had to keep going to the web site and unbouncing myself.
The issue seems to have cleared up now, and yesterday I received almost 700

[JAWS-Users] sounds for MS Office 2013

2018-07-19 Thread Bob Hicks
I googled this topic and all I got were adds for MS office. I didn't
readily see any offering for a free download for sounds to use in MS Office
2013.

I looked for sounds at alt F; options T; and, although I found a similar
multi page assortment of options, I could not find anything about sounds.
Any ideas? thanks

Hello David:

I think it is a wise move, with all the email security nowadays it is much
preferable to use such a service than hosting one's own list.

I have my "Hosting, podcasting and broadcasting" list at hr+subscr...@groups.io
and so far it works flawlessly. My Spanish-language internet radio list is
with googlegroups.com and likewise, that solved the bouncing problems I used to
have.

I will be quick to subscribe to the new list once you set it up.

What is really nice about the Amazon echo is that it is voice controlled.
You can merely say row 1 dice and it will tell you the result of the row.
Or you might say row 2 dice and she will tell you the result, Or you may
want to row 5 dice at once, just say row 5 dice and she will report the
result of the row. It also has several dice games which you can play. And
also a bunch of other games and a host of other things she can do. There is
practically endless with the things she is doing and all with voice
commands.

I did the July upgrade for Jaws 2018 last night. Ever since, I haven't been
able to respond to a message in Outlook 2016 while the message is open. When
I try, Jaws says, "Microsoft does not recognize this key". However, if I

would like to be able to reply while the message is still open. Does anyone
have a suggestion? Has this happened to anyone else? I have Windows 7 and I

I sent the zipped tutorial to the list one final time, and I think David will
post it on the help page!

Hi all,
I did not receive any zip file of the edge tutorial. Am I missing something?

Sure I’d like something I did on the help list, but I’m pretty sure the zip
that I did is the one that includes the whole tutorial.

Hi Kevin,

I don't know if you read the owners message, but Mr. Ferrin would like to put
your / David's tutorial up on the Jaws-Users website, but he needs your
permission to do so. Can he put it up on the servor? Thanks mooy moocho.
Take Care. Mike. Go Dodgers!

This is a tutorial originally written by David More on how to use Edge with
NVDA and Narrator, I just modified it to include usage with jaws. I tested it
and it works according to the tutorial. This is a second post of it because I
didn’t do it correctly the first time!
