Hi, I was getting the same problem a few days back. The latest version of JAWS
12 seems to fix the problem although it does seem to reappear randomly from
time to ttime.
You could also try using JAWS 10 which I found worked fine in edit fields in
IE8.

aren't reading the edit fields in Word and text areas in IE. Not sure if it is
