Thanks for the answer. Now I have a working web service of an EJB. The first
step was difficult but a thousand miles journey starts with one step.

Try this with synchronous replication to see whether there are any
'CacheException' when 'put' ist called right before retriving 'null'.

(Asynchronous Replication will catch these Exceptions internally since they do
not occur synchronous to the corresponding method-call).

Summary: Finder with null EQL string reported o wrong entity bean

Initial Comment:
I've noticed that if you mistakenly create a 'finder'
method in a CMP entity bean with an empty EQL string
then on deployment the application server reports this
error with the wrong entity bean name and a misleading
error message.

It seems to use the last entity bean name in the
deployment list irrespective of where the EQL occurs.

It also reports the error as...

org.jboss.ejb.plugins.cmp.ejbql.ParseException: FROM
not found

... which is correct but also misleading.

It ought to report something like

null EQL string

Submitted By: Alexei Yudichev (sflexus)

Summary: 3.2.5-3.2.7: Axis deserializes nil Base64Binary as byte[0]

Initial Comment:
I am migrating from JBoss 3.2.5 to 3.2.7RC1. Apart from
some Jetty integration issues, I have discovered that if
Axis server (jboss-net.sar) tries to deserialize

defaultData xsi:type=xsd:base64Binary xsi:nil=1/

I get corresponding bean's field value as byte[0], not as
null. Other SOAP types such as xsd:string, do maintain
nul values. In JBoss 3.2.5 base64Binary was working well
too.

Attached is an archive with Axis debug level logs from
JBoss 3.2.5 and 3.2.7RC1. In axis.3.2.7RC1.log, line 38
demonstrates that base64Binary comes as nil. Line 756
demonstrates that this value was deserialized as
[EMAIL PROTECTED] In axis.3.2.5.log, Base64Deserializer was
not ever popped up, because nil value required no
deserializer.

What version of Axis is in JBoss 3.2.7RC1?

[JBoss-dev] [IIOP on JBoss] - EJB remoting solution

Can anyone have the success story of connect to EJB over rmi/iiop transport?

Can I get the connection to EJB over pure corba iiop transport? (generating
client stubs from IDL, initialize ORB, etc.) I try but get CORBA BAD_PARAM
errors :((

If I use the rmi/iiop transport (solution from

I get the ClassCastException :((
My client code in this case:

Summary: XMBean persistence doesn't work with jdk5 runtime

Initial Comment:
XMBean persistence doesn't work when using a jdk5
runtime for 3.2.x 4.0.x and HEAD (it works fine under jdk
1.3/1.4)

This applies to both the old
ObjectStreamAttributePersistenceManager and the new
DelegatingPersistenceManager. It seems this is not a
problem of the PMs since they are never called to store
() attributes.

The DescriptorSupport/ModelMBeanInfoSupport classes of
jdk5 do copy on get/set, while jboss doesn't.

So when the persistence interceptor gets called metadata
(like OnUpdate) have been lost, but I can't find where/when.

I can imagine there may be deeper implications because of
this.

Just checked running the same jmx tests with the jdk5
java.management.* classes removed and they pass.

There are also 8 failures in the jbossmx testsuite (with jdk5)
so maybe that's a starting point, too.

The tests under the jmx module present many failures but it
seems they are not maintained for some time now.

We are running the tests against java5 now. We just need to
continue to drill down into where the jmx implementation is
causing issues and continue to isolate reliance on the jboss
implementation details. I'm working on the 4.0 and 3.2 java
5 testsuite runs so I'll look at this test.

org.jboss.test.jmx.test.DeployXMBeanUnitTestCase:

testUserXMBeanPersistentValues
testUserXMBeanPersistentValuesWithCustomPM

both fail (on HEAD) with jdk5. I haven't checked if those pass
with jdk1.4

I found out though, by not being able to deploy
docs/examples/jmx/persistent-service.

I wonder now, what should be the next step, i.e. how to
check for incopatibilities.

Is there a testcase which shows the failure under 5.0? The
only way to force the use of our implementation is the
bootclasspath and this is not a general option.

So I made an edited version of jdk5/jre/rt.jar with all
javax.management classes removed, and the damned thing
worked.

There may be incopatibilities between our
javax.management.* and jdk5 javax.management.

Is there a way to force our javax.management classes to be
used, instead?

(setting javax.management.builder.initial obviously has no
impact on the javax.management classes)

This will be one of two things:

1) You are using RequiredModelMBean directly which in java5 will
use Sun's modelmbean implementation rather XMBean
2) There is something incompatible happening with the
descriptor
which is held in Sun's ModelMBeanInfo/ModelMBeanAttributeInfo
implementation.

[JBoss-dev] [JTA on JBoss] - Associations between Transaction and Connection?

2004-11-25 Thread cool_xiong
How jboss associates database connection(java.sql.Connection) with transaction?

example

  |xxmethod {
  |...
  |UserTransaction ut = ctx.lookup(UserTransaction);
  |ut.begin();
  |call  xx.method1();
  |call  xx.method2();
  |ut.commit;
  |...
  | }
  |public class xx {
  |  public static void method1() {
  |...
  |DataSource ds = ctx.lookup(java:/xxDS);
  |Connection con = ds.getConnection();
  |...
  |con.close();
  |  }
  |
  |  public static void method1() {
  |...
  |DataSource ds = ctx.lookup(java:/xxDS);
  |Connection con = ds.getConnection();
  |...
  |con.close();
  |  }
  |}
  |

In this example, connection in method1 is different instance from connection in
method2. when method1 success, connection is freed to Connection Pool? if it
is, where transaction with connetion in method1 go? where is transaction info
kept? In TM?

thanks

[JBoss-dev] [JTA on JBoss] - Re: Associations between Transaction and Connection?

2004-11-25 Thread cool_xiong
Because JDBC comments as following:

Note: By default a Connection object is in auto-commit mode, which means that
it automatically commits changes after executing each statement. If auto-commit
mode has been disabled, the method commit must be called explicitly in order to
commit changes; otherwise, database changes will not be saved.

Then, if connection in method1 close, it seems transaction will be commit or
rollback, decided by con.isAutoCommit().

please tell me why transaction info from method1 can be kept after connection
be closed.

Thanks.

Summary: Duplication of init-param in web.xml

Initial Comment:
When a web-service is deployed more then once using
the same directory, the web.xml is modified each time,
leading to the following example :

  servlet
servlet-nameMyServlet/servlet-name
servlet-
classorg.jboss.webservice.server.ServiceEndpointServlet
JSE/servlet-class
init-param
  param-namews4ee-service-name/param-name
  param-valueMyService/param-value
/init-param
init-param
  param-namews4ee-service-name/param-name
  param-valueMyService/param-value
/init-param
load-on-startup-1/load-on-startup
  /servlet

It seems that in the ServiceDeployer.java, in the
method modifyServletConfig(), no check is done
to ensure the servlet init-param named ws4ee-service-
name already exists.
Once the init-param is at least duplicated, the web-
service fails totally to work.

Any further information to me jose do-t chillan at jaynti

Fixed in jboss-4.0.1. It now prepeds the parent (EAR) name
before the the generated web.xml.

When you say ... web-service is deployed more then once
using the same directory ... I assume it means having the
same war included in different ears.

If this is a redeployment issue of the same sandalone war,
please provide a sample deployment.

[JBoss-dev] [Nukes Development] - Re: Howto send Mails from an module

2004-11-25 Thread cnovara
Take a look at usermodule.java in core/user.
It creates a mail using MBean properties to configure.
Avoid deployment descriptor modifications (XXX-service.xml) as MBean properties
has precedence. Use jmx-console instead.

You'll have to complete mail module properties : mode (most important), user,
password, gateway if needed, validatefrom, validatesubject

Exemple with use of plain mail account : mode=1, smtpuser=username,
smtppassword=password

See usermodule code, it's self-explanatory.
For attachments, I think it's not provided by mail module.

[JBoss-dev] [JBoss IDE (dev)] - Re: Unable to find a javac compiler for JSPs

2004-11-25 Thread rcls0001
I recently had the same problem when trying to deploy JSPs to JBoss 1.4.0 using
the JBoss IDE (Eclipse 3.0.1 on Win2K). I was able to deploy the code, but
when I tried to view the JSP, I received the same error Unable to find a javac
compiler.

I'm not sure why I tried this, but I deleted the JBoss server directory and
unziped the package again. I started the server (in Eclipse of course), and
deployed the package. When I loaded the JSP in Netscape, it worked! I don't
understand why it's working now, but I'm not complaining.

[JBoss-dev] [ jboss-Bugs-1071332 ] CMR and ejbCreate

2004-11-25 Thread SourceForge.net

Summary: CMR and ejbCreate

Initial Comment:
Hi,

I have a problem regarding CMR. As for example, I have
two tables “Test” and “TestParams”. The tables
definitions are as follows:

Test
test_id varchar(20) not null– primary key
test_name varchar(20) not null

TestParams
test_id varchar(20) not null – primary key (references to
testID in Test)
examiner varchar(20) not null – primary key
length int not null

I am trying to establish a 1:N relationship between
them. I have the relevant getters and setters in the
two entity beans.

Getters/Setters in Test:
public abstract Collection getTestParamLists();
public abstract void setTestParamLists(Collection
testParamLists);

Getters/Setters in TestParams:
public abstract TestLocal getTest();
public abstract void setTest(TestLocal test);

Below are the extracts from the ejb-jar and jbosscmp-
jdbc:

I tried to create a Test bean and a TestParams bean by
issuing the following codes:
TestLocal newTest=testLocalHome.create(testobject);
testParamsLocalHome.create(paramObject, newTest);

The Test bean is successfully created, but not the
TestParams bean.
I got the following error:

javax.ejb.CreateException: javax.ejb.CreateException:
Could not create entity:java.sql.SQLException: Unknown
column 'test' in 'field list'

I looked at the log file and it has the following info:
Executing SQL: INSERT INTO TEST_PARAMS (test_ID,
examiner, length, test) VALUES (?, ?, ?, ?)

It seems like Jboss thinks that my cmr field is a cmp
field? What do I need to change?

Any help is appreciate.

I tried using both the same and not the same column name
for foreign and primary key columns, but it still thinks the cmr-
field is a cmp-field.

[JBoss-dev] [ jboss-Bugs-1068819 ] Duplication of init-param in web.xml

Resolution: Fixed
Priority: 5
Submitted By: Little jose (littlejoz)
Assigned to: Thomas Diesler (tdiesler)
Summary: Duplication of init-param in web.xml

Initial Comment:
When a web-service is deployed more then once using
the same directory, the web.xml is modified each time,
leading to the following example :

  servlet
servlet-nameMyServlet/servlet-name
servlet-
classorg.jboss.webservice.server.ServiceEndpointServlet
JSE/servlet-class
init-param
  param-namews4ee-service-name/param-name
  param-valueMyService/param-value
/init-param
init-param
  param-namews4ee-service-name/param-name
  param-valueMyService/param-value
/init-param
load-on-startup-1/load-on-startup
  /servlet

It seems that in the ServiceDeployer.java, in the
method modifyServletConfig(), no check is done
to ensure the servlet init-param named ws4ee-service-
name already exists.
Once the init-param is at least duplicated, the web-
service fails totally to work.

Any further information to me jose do-t chillan at jaynti

Hi Thomas (we've met in Roma, I'm an old friend of Marc)
I am using a directory based deployment structure, which
means I don't build an ear containing jars and wars, but
I create a directory named my_app.ear containing another
directory names my_webapp.war, etc...
This is much faster in development stage cause when I use an
ant script that builds the directories by copying from my
Eclipse projects, which is incremental, instead of create a new
ear-war-jar each time. I deploy my directory directly to JBoss
using the jmx-console on the MainDeployerMBean, passing the
URL of my directory as argument (file://xx../yy../my_app.ear).
But this way of doing (most people I know work like this)
supposes the files of the application to deploy are not
modified.

Try to run the attached project : use ant task deploy after
launching a local JBoss on port 8080.
The deploy directory is deployed.

Jose

Fixed in jboss-4.0.1. It now prepeds the parent (EAR) name
before the the generated web.xml.

When you say ... web-service is deployed more then once
using the same directory ... I assume it means having the
same war included in different ears.

If this is a redeployment issue of the same sandalone war,
please provide a sample deployment.

Summary: JSP compiler does not use project's classes.

Initial Comment:
OS: Win XP
JDK: 1.4
Eclipse: 3.0.1
JBoss-IDE 1.4.0

When I compile my JSP's all of the jsp:useBean ...
tags say the class is invalid.

As a workaround I added all the classes to a jar and
included the .jar in the project's build path.

Then I got an error that the JSP's couldn't find the
class for my custom tags. Mentioned the class (which
was in the .jar mentioned above) so it was able to find
my TLD.

Cheers,
Kevin

[JBoss-dev] [JBossCache] - Re: JBossCache Bug in get(someNode, key)?

2004-11-25 Thread jiwils
norbert wrote : Try this with synchronous replication to see whether there
are any 'CacheException' when 'put' ist called right before retriving 'null'.

  | (Asynchronous Replication will catch these Exceptions internally since they
do not occur synchronous to the corresponding method-call).
  |

An interesting idea (and I will try it to see what happens), but in my case,
the put in question is happening in another VM. Furthermore, I know that the
replication is working because before (and after) the null occurrance, get
invocations for the same key are working. Could there be a hidden exception
in the get invocation that your suggestion might expose? Since I am not using
transactions, I am not sure what that would be. I am only using SERIALIZABLE
as an isolation level because it seemed to fix an unrelated issue where a cache
node existed, but its corresponding object did not (yet).

Initial Comment:
Environment: Windows XP SP2, JDK 1.4.2_05, JBoss 3.2.6

For CachedConnectionManager service debug option is
enabled to monitor connections.

!-- Enable connection close debug monitoring --
attribute name=Debugtrue/attribute

Using jmx-console, if we look at the inUseCount
property. The number displayed is not consitent with
the underlying connection pool. listInUseConnections
shows stack traces for connections that have been
closed long back. It take a long time for the
inUseCount to drop down, but never drops to 0 even
after the connection pools correctly show inUseCount as 0.

[JBoss-dev] [JBossWS] - Returning Custom DataTypes in JBOSS4.0.0

2004-11-25 Thread gayathiri
Hi,
I have successfully deploy the web service using jbossWS .

But i have the following issue ,

My method is returning the array of objects , for example it is
having 32 records , but in the client side it returns the only one record .
i am using the rpc/literal

My method definition is , public org.ezyield.yieldjava.InventoryArray
getYieldByWebsiteId(java.lang.String in0) throws java.rmi.RemoteException;

  | public class InventoryArray implements java.io.Serializable
  | {
  |
  |public org.ezyield.yieldjava.Inventory[] inventoryArray;
  |
  | public InventoryArray() {
  | }
  |
  | public org.ezyield.yieldjava.Inventory[] getInventoryArray() {
  | return inventoryArray;
  | }
  |
  | public void setInventoryArray(org.ezyield.yieldjava.Inventory[]
inventoryArray) {
  |this.inventoryArray = inventoryArray;
  | }
  | }

When i access the getInventoryArray method in the client side it
returns the Only one Object (Inventory) but actually it has 32 objects
(Iinventory objects )

i have used Serializtion in ws4ee-deployment.xml file

typeMapping xmlns:ns=http://yieldjava.ezyield.org;
  | qname=ns:InventoryArray
  | type=java:org.ezyield.yieldjava.InventoryArray
  | serializer=org.apache.axis.encoding.ser.BeanSerializerFactory

Summary: Problem with XDoclet when using a VSS plugin

Initial Comment:
Hi,

I am experiencing some trouble with running the XDoclet
and packaging builds when the code is under source
control.

I am using the VSS plugin 1.6.0 and the JBoss-IDE plugin
1.4.0.

The following error occurs during build:

An internal error occurred during: Packaging Generation.
java.lang.IllegalArgumentException: Attempted to
beginRule: R/, does not match outer scope rule:
P/PortalEJB
org.eclipse.core.internal.runtime.Assert.isLegal

org.eclipse.core.internal.jobs.ImplicitJobs.begin
(ImplicitJobs.java:80)
org.eclipse.core.internal.jobs.JobManager.beginRule

eration(Workspace.java:1628)

org.jboss.ide.eclipse.packaging.ui.actions.PackagingRunA
ction$1.run(PackagingRunAction.java:195)
org.eclipse.core.internal.jobs.Worker.run(Worker.java:66)

It is possible to build again as soon as I deconfigure my
source control.

It seems that there are problems when using the
Rational plugin as well. Does anybody know if this is a
JBoss-IDE bug and will it be fixed? Or can I configure my
way out of it?

[JBoss-dev] [JBossWS] - Re: How to access JBoss 3.2.3 WebService using JBoss4.0 WebS

2004-11-25 Thread [EMAIL PROTECTED]
Depending on the type of component you have deployed in jboss-4.0.x you need to
read the section Client programming model on the JBossWS wiki
http://www.jboss.org/wiki/Wiki.jsp?page=JBossWS

That you're accessing a WS deployed on JBoss-3.2.3 is irrelevant. The main idea
about interoperability is, that the client/server only see each other's SOAP
messages.

[JBoss-dev] [Deployers on JBoss (Deployers/JBoss)] - Re: programmatic ejb deployment in jboss

2004-11-25 Thread [EMAIL PROTECTED]
If you mean an .ear/.jar containing MDBs, you can use deploy(URL)/undeploy(URL)
on the MainDeployer MBean.

If you mean how to create message queues/topics that can survive a server
restart you can have a go with the new DeploymentService:

[JBoss-dev] [JBossWS] - Re: Returning Custom DataTypes in JBOSS4.0.0

2004-11-25 Thread [EMAIL PROTECTED]
Gayathiri,

your typeDesc will not be seen by the Axis BeanSerializer/Deserializer. Instead
use

  |
serializer='org.jboss.webservice.encoding.ser.MetaDataBeanSerializerFactdeserializer='org.jboss.webservice.encoding.ser.MetaDataBeanDeserialize

On the server side, set the debugging level of org.apache.axis to DEBUG, then
you will see whether the server actually sends 32 array items in the response
message or not.

On the client side, you can do the same and examine how the deserializer
instanciates your array items and populates the array.

If you are convinced that this is a bug, please file an issue with SF and
provide a simple sample deployment that allows me to reproduce what you are
seeing.

Thanks
