This looks like hsqldb cannot handle this big of a store as it is the
jdbc driver that is bombing, not the persistence manager. I can find
any info on the limits for hsqldb 1.6.1 so you will have to experiment
to see if this is a limitation of the db.

The jetty jbosscmp-jdbc.xml file contains the following:

Hypersonic SQL
which I believe is a wart.
So if you have set your DefaultDS to be postgres, then jetty is still
trying to use
hsqldb mappings with it.

To set it up you need to declare prim-key-class as java.lang.Object
and no primkey-field. Also, ejbCreate method should return Object and
findByPrimaryKey should return Object.
Then in jbosscmp-jdbc.xml you need to configure unknown-pk and

This is a log4j configuration issue (you should check all available log4j
plugins). I personnaly prefer one log per server for small clusters but you
may want a unified log for your own (application-level) logging information.
