The "events" screen is a events history screen, so you will see a "down" event,
and then an "up" event, both will stay on the screen.
But the alarms (colored boxes on the top) will clear when the interface is up
again.

Currently there's no way to change the color for the status of an event.
Colors are assigned for Event Type (SLA, Interface Protocol, etc), and not from
Alarm State (up, down, etc)

You should read the Manual Section on SLAs and also about the
Trigger/Action System.
JFFNMS will evaluate the SLAs every 30 minutes and it will create an
event if some SLA is not withing the specified values.
Then with the Trigger system you can match that event or alarm to be
sent
