Yes it does : jOpenDocument generates , following the OpenDocument standard. But

both trying to create a multi-line cell with jOpenDocument.
His original comment was mentioning how it works CORRECTLY with
openOffice/Libre office, and jOpenDocument does not.

I see you ended up using a different solution altogether. I ended up doing
the following, which I am posting for anyone else that finds themselves
facing this ridiculous problem, which I have no doubt will be a great many
