Dear Bros and Sis, There was a suggestion from Abraham Joseph to include a theme which our Pope John Paul II spoke of in his address for the Celebration of the World Day of Peace 1 Jan 2002. It speaks about NO PEACE WITHOUT JUSTICE NO JUSTICE WITHOUT FORGIVENESS. I have included the same point in the prayer now. We will be bringing this prayer at the Saturday Night Vigil at Renewal Retreat Center here in Bangalore. So we will have nearly 100 youngsters supporting us that night. Besides, the same will be posted to the Night Vigil E-group. Please network and garner maximum support for the prayer initiative as this is indeed a Clear And Present Danger. Dear friends, This is regarding a program telecasted yesterday 4-2-03 on a reputed malayalam channel at about 8pm. It was a report on the Hindu Sangamam at Cherukolpuzha. The person was talking about making India a Hindu nation. He was making a comparision study about the vedic books, Quran and the Bible. He was making unrelevent comparisions and statements telling that Hinduisum is the only religion which has scientific base, from his talks we can understand that he is not at all aware of the teachings of the Holy Bible or Quran. He strongly states that India should become a Hindu country. He is worried about our institutions, publications and all these type of movements. Still I wonder why this type of programs are telecasted in prime time. Yet another news is from the madrassas (muslim study centers) here nearby, they are taking classes to muslim youth. they are not at all worried about hindus but they really are afraid of christians, they teach that christianity was not God created but was a creation of the mastermind of Saint Paul. who was first killing all christians but afterwards found a scope of becomming the leader of a big group he managed to make a 'story' of his encounter with God and later he became the first pope. They have many more arguements and these type of stories. Hi friends Let me suggest some point on job Vacancy... What Predeep George said is correct we have to consider the sufferings of an unemployed... There r a large no of youth who r in a job but no salary... their situation is really pathetic... I have got some friend who is facing this situation... I can feel how they r struggling to maintain the DIGNITY of an employee Second about the JoyNet.. I think Jason well explained in his mail(Job Vacancy - do not delete)... it's a fact that when we r in a group we have to admit the rules of the group... understand the motto and the vision ... understand carefully our duty and why we r here... and act accordingly. Now the BALL is in the Job list's court... They r really doing a good job... we cant neglect their hearty helping hand to the unemployed... if we cant appreciate... at least don't discourage them... Hi Pals Nice to know that you guys are opening up. It a good thought that we need to help the unemployed. At least I can understand what it means by being unemployed as I had to struggle a bit, without having enough dough to fill my stomach, to get a job after completing my graduation in engineering. But why only unemployed ? How about the unmarried who are looking out for their right partners ? How about those who are looking out for their lost friends. We have our stories to forward We have our prayer requests to post. We need to conduct our spiritual discussions. We need to post birthday notification. We need to send the news across. The list grows... For all that we have only one JOYnet and many of us cannot afford to have SO MANY mails daily. Now say.. Do we not need to prioritise on what we can send to joynet? Do we not have to limit on the type of mails that we can send? Let's ask ourselves and not the list admin. Please do not be under the impression that the Admins (who ever they are) are running the joynet and they impose their on rules. JOYnet all ours and we need to let it go in the proper direction. Please do not open a discussion on this, instead let's think before reading/sending an email to joynet. My comments on [JOYnet] Clarification Luke 12:53
Hi Joynetters, This passage is one of the more difficult passages to accept if you read it literally at face value. Even the fundamentalists are a bit wary about speaking abt this passage.. We shouldnt read this passage alone.. we should read from versus 49-53 together.. then the real meaning comes out. here it is.. 49 I have come to set the earth on fire, and how I wish it were already blazing! 50 There is a baptism with which I must be baptized, and how great is my anguish until it is accomplished! 51 Do you think that I have come to establish peace on the earth? No, I tell you, but rather division. 52 From now on a household of five will be divided, three against two and two against three; 53 a father will be divided against his son and a son against his father, a mother against her daughter and a daughter against her mother, a mother-in-law against her daughter-in-law and a daughter-in-law against her mother-in-law. we always call jesus the prince of peace and here he is doing the unexpected.. Here he is saying that he hasnt come to bring peace.!!! But then what is this peace that he is talking about.. Remember that the Hebrew language has very few words , hence many words convey different meanings in different contexts.. For e.g the other troublesome passage is .. Hate your father and mother.. which is in stark contrast to the commandment. honour your father and mother The crucial word here is hate which in this context means not to prefer. they didnt have a word in hebrew for prefer so they used the word for hate. Jesus is saying prefer me to your parents.. I should be first always ;they can be next.. Let us realise that we are using an english bible.. The hebrew was remembered and written in Greek, then translated to latin, then translated to old english and now is available in modern english. So the english translates it word for word as hate.. In the same way in our passage the word Peace can mean the harmony that exists in families and in communities. Jesus is saying that the message he is bringing is so radical that it will even divide families( which is the most united among all groups) into those who accept and those who reject this message. this is the comment the NAB bible adds as a footnote to this passage. Jesus' proclamation of the kingdom is a refining and purifying fire. His message that meets with acceptance or rejection will be a source of conflict and dissension even within families. This is the meaning of this passage and it is true since we have seen it happen all over the world for the last 2000 years even among some members in our very own joynet.. Dear Friends: Kudos to all those who are actively participating and contributing to JOYnet these days. Its been nice to see that some of the recent discussions are inspiring each of us to think about and treasure the riches of the Church much more than in the past. Keep up the great work. I write to you now to share a bit of good news. I will be arriving in India this Monday for my engagement. Yes, I have finally found the right guy and am getting married. :) The Lord has blessed me with a wonderful gift by the name of Don Austin who is from Chellanam near Cochin. Our engagement is on Sat., Feb. 15th at St. Jude Church in Thevara at 11 am. A special thanks to all who had interceded on my behalf for the past couple of years to find Don, who embodies everything that I have prayed for over the last 10 years. I ask your continued prayers as we prepare spiritually and in all other ways for our wedding that will be held here in the U.S. on July 5th, 2003. Lord and heavenly Father we offer into your Holy Hands this beautiful world you had created for us. The world you loved so much, that you gave your only Son our Lord Jesus Christ so that every human will be saved. The world you created so beautifully and carefully, so that we may live in harmony and peace. We your children cry out to you Heavenly Father, for peace and protection in this beautiful world with its diverse race, religions and ethnic backgrounds. Save this world Heavenly Father from all catastrophic devastation fought by human beings against one another. O Lord of every continent, every nation and every life on earth we call on Your most Holy Name to redeem the whole creation with Your Mighty Hand. Send your legions of peace angels led by St. Michael the Arch Angel to all the strife torn areas in this world. Demonstrate your power by bringing healing and peace, where hate , pride and arrogance divide your people; where bitter threats are hurled between world leaders and where your children take to terrorism and wars to solve mutual problems. Lord we bring to you every world leader, every organisation striving for peace and for war; and claim the precious blood of your son Lord Jesus Christ over them. Let the stubborn minds melt and let the stiff legs bend down before Your Majesty. Change their minds , Change their attitudes and Change their intentions Lord. We bind, defuse and send to the foot of the Cross in Calvary every weapon formed by the devil against your children and this world. We come against all chemical, neuclear, biological and other lethal weapons formed by wicked minds; in the name of Jesus Christ of Nazareth. We bind all proud thoughts and actions by world leaders and people by the wounds of Lord Jesus Christ.Restore in our hearts the vision of peace, joy and unity in the world. We cry out Victory in the name of Jesus Christ ; the name to which all powers, principalities and dominions in heaven, earth and hell are humbly submissive. We dedicate all continents into your most holy hands. We bring in a special way the threat of another war in the Middle East region. We specially bring to you Iraq, the USA, Israel and all other countries in the Gulf Region. We bring the leaders and decision makers in these countries - military and political before you; and pray for a renewal of their minds by the power of the Holy Spirit. We pray for a root-cause healing of all the problems in this region. May all resentment and revenge be replaced by Love and Forgiveness . May Human Justice be replaced by Divine Justice through Forgiveness. Bless the nations with the grace of Forgiveness, so as to heal and rebuild troubled human relations from their foundations. And May every Religion, Race and Creed in this world cry out Holy, Holy in one voice to you the El Shadai, the Adonai. We all unite together with every soul and saint in heaven as we pray and dedicate this world and each one of us to the Immaculate Heart of Mother Mary. Accept, O Mother of Christ, this cry laden with the sufferings of all individual human beings, laden with the sufferings of whole societies. Help us with the power of the Holy Spirit conquer all sin: individual sin and the sin of the world, sin in all its manifestations. Let there be revealed once more in the history of the world the infinite saving power of the redemption: the power of merciful love. May it put a stop to evil. May it transform consciences. We invoke the army of all heavenly Angels, Arch Angels and Saints to powerfully intervene, intercede and to protect this world from the darts of the evil one.
