[plasma-pa] [Bug 439347] PlasmaPA-VolumeMeter streams are not freeing and consumes CPU all time
https://bugs.kde.org/show_bug.cgi?id=439347 David Edmundson changed: What|Removed |Added CC||k...@davidedmundson.co.uk --- Comment #1 from David Edmundson --- I have a couple of observations without any concrete answers. 1) On startup there's a "preloading" path that happens a few seconds after boot, which effectively loads the fullscreen representation of each window. For some (broken) reason this leads to target ``` VolumeMonitor { id: meter target: parent.visible ? model.PulseObject : null } ``` getting set and immediately unset. parent.visible should be false throughout preloading, 2) That doesn't fully explain the end result. It does get unset, our cleanup method does get called and that does unref the stream. That works fine in all future invocations, just not the first one. -- You are receiving this mail because: You are watching all bug changes.

[dolphin] [Bug 439352] New: An option "Overwrite if larger" in the File Already Exists dialog window
https://bugs.kde.org/show_bug.cgi?id=439352 Bug ID: 439352 Summary: An option "Overwrite if larger" in the File Already Exists dialog window Product: dolphin Version: 19.12.3 Platform: Debian stable OS: Linux Status: REPORTED Severity: wishlist Priority: NOR Component: general Assignee: dolphin-bugs-n...@kde.org Reporter: myndstr...@protonmail.ch CC: kfm-de...@kde.org Target Milestone: --- SUMMARY When copying multiple files it can happen that the source files are the same content (or purpose) as the destination files and have the same names but have a larger file-size. This can occur if the destination files are incomplete because the download or the copying was aborted (happens all the time for me, especially when trying to copy files between Android and Debian10). It can also occur when one has a higher-quality file of the same content. If there are many files of large file-sizes one has to either manually compare the file-sizes (not considering some bash scripts of course) or overwrite all files (by selecting Overwrite and "Apply to All"). It would be very useful if there was a functionality for overwriting if the source-file is larger ("Overwrite if larger"). This option could displayed right away when *multiple* files are being copied and file-names are matching (it could be disabled until "Apply to All" is checked) OR only after one clicked/checked a "Show more option"/"More" button in that dialog window. This would probably also be useful for a lot of other use-cases such as quickly doing backups and restoring them. This would also easily overwriting smaller destination files without redundant R/W and time of the copy process or for manual effort. STEPS TO REPRODUCE 1. Have some files only partially copied (or downloaded) in a directory 2. Try to overwrite the partial files while adding the nonexistent files and not overwriting complete files with Dolphin OBSERVED RESULT One has to manually compare the file-sizes or just overwrite all files with the same name (this can be a problem in many cases beyond the extra time and disk R/W such as for Android devices with bad connection). EXPECTED RESULT A way/button to overwrite only if larger for all files automatically. The application itself works normally. The problem is just the way Yakuake presents itself on the screen after a few uses. I apologize for any grammatical errors. I'm Brazilian and my English is not so good. I use totally pure Plasma, the way the developers make it available to us end users. I just change the overall theme to Breeze Dark. At the time of the Yakuake problem, I hadn't installed any plasmoids yet. But I usually use some. Thank you in advance for your attention and I hope my information is relevant, since I didn't get any backtrace. -- You are receiving this mail because: You are watching all bug changes.

https://bugs.kde.org/show_bug.cgi?id=439348 Bug ID: 439348 Summary: Document directory forced to name "home" Product: kdeconnect Version: unspecified Platform: openSUSE RPMs OS: Linux Status: REPORTED Severity: normal Priority: NOR Component: android-application Assignee: albertv...@gmail.com Reporter: adr...@fowle.co.uk Target Milestone: --- SUMMARY On resolution of https://bugs.kde.org/show_bug.cgi?id=439228 I found several problems with the file system expose plugin. This one reports the forcing of the name "home" for the "document" location. STEPS TO REPRODUCE 1. On phone, with title of connection showing at top, select "Plugin settings" from three dots menu. 2. Select Add location 3. Choose the folder "Documents" OBSERVED RESULT The folder is exported as the name "home" EXPECTED RESULT Freedom to call it what I want. "Home" in linux terms is the name for the folder above Documents (on OpenSuse at least) and so not even correct. A consequence of this seems to be that other folders with system names become mapped below this export even if they are peers on the phone. Some other peer folders which I created eg Documents-2 cannot be exported after this. They just get a red exclamation in the "location" field of the confirmation box. It is impossible to delete these assignments (separately reported), so I cannot reproduce the steps to check. Previous versions allowed me to export Documents as Documents. " The precondition in that sentence is strange, because it doesn't match what happens with actual user activity. Perhaps it was an oversight? Was it written before the "Allow unlocking without password" configuration setting existed? > Can you expand on your use case? The use case is gaming. I maintain a utility called joystickwake that delays screen blankers in response to game controller input, but this issue also applies to games and emulators that would do so themselves. Scenario: - User starts playing a joystick-based game with no mouse or keyboard activity. - SimulateUserActivity events periodically reset the screen timeout. - User pauses the game, perhaps to answer a phone call. - SimulateUserActivity calls are not produced while the joystick is idle. - Screen times out & goes blank. - User notices this and moves the joystick to wake the screen. - Screen does not wake. - User now has to put down the joystick, walk across the room, use the mouse or keyboard to wake the screen, walk back across the room, and pick up the joystick, before resuming play. If SimulateUserActivity actually simulated user activity, moving the joystick would have been sufficient to wake the screen. -- You are receiving this mail because: You are watching all bug changes.

I also have a /usr/lib/systemd/user/kde-baloo.service , but starting Baloo as above does not make it show up in `systemctl --user status kde-baloo`, so KDE on Fedora is not using this systemd unit. `systemctl --user start kde-baloo.service` is another workaround. -- You are receiving this mail because: You are watching all bug changes.

But the original Quick tile (Meta + arrow) still has this issue on my Manjaro. Cool. Hmm, can you try to boot into a Manjaro live CD and try to reproduce this? Best in a VM. If you manage that, tell me how and I can see if I find a reason. I still don't see how my script could be possibly involved as again, it only reacts to shortcut presses and should be inactive in all other cases. But wouldn't be the first time I was surprised by how things work :-) One other thing I could imagine is that you have some other window manager script installed, or something is trying to arrange your windows in a certain way when opening. [kwin] [Bug 439272] Kwin-Script: Better Quick Tiles - Windows moving without using shortcut
https://bugs.kde.org/show_bug.cgi?id=439272 --- Comment #11 from schuhmann.sebast...@gmail.com --- EDIT: I do NOT see the described behaviour from https://bugs.kde.org/show_bug.cgi?id=428272 If i 1. have one randomly placed window 2. rearrange it with Better Quick Tiles 3. double-klick on window-bar to maximise 4. double-klick again on maximised window bar The window goes back to exactly the size and position where Better Quick Tiles has shifted it to! -- You are receiving this mail because: You are watching all bug changes.
[kwin] [Bug 439272] Kwin-Script: Better Quick Tiles - Windows moving without using shortcut
https://bugs.kde.org/show_bug.cgi?id=439272 --- Comment #10 from schuhmann.sebast...@gmail.com --- (In reply to cyslider from comment #9) > Can you please test if you also get this behavior when you disable "Better > quick tiles" but use the normal 2x2, built in, quick tile shortcuts? I tested it now several times If the Windows gets moved via normal built in function (Meta + ArrowKeys -or- Meta + Shift + ArrowKeys) the window never "changes size by itsself" (In reply to cyslider from comment #5) > Also there is one limitation that can also lead or magnify strange effects. > The position set by the script is not > saved as the last size/position of > the window. Only if modified manually by the user, this gets saved (and > restored after maximize for example) See > https://bugs.kde.org/show_bug.cgi?id=428272 for details on this OK sounds, that it can have to do with this - I can minimize and maximize the window to taskbar and back but the size and position stays always the same - In case of a window "changes size by itsself", it seems that especially only size is changed to an older stored one --> The position where i docked the window stays more or less the same (In reply to cyslider from comment #9) > I still bet this is due to the position not being saved and something > triggering a "restore last position" that will then not restore the last > quick position but instead the last user manipulated position. Yes i agree But i have no clue how to find out what "something" it is --> In the two screen captures you see two very differtent situation Situation1: Opening a second instance of dolphing --> First instance changes size Situation2: Causing a popup to appear --> the one and only Brave instance changes size (In reply to cyslider from comment #9) > Also, quite conveniently, KDE Settings now can show you all settings you > changed from default (Highlight Changed Settings in the lower left). Make > sure you checked this out to not miss some setting you might have forgotten > about. Thanks for this hint! But im not sure for what to search --> Ive changed many settings due to the fact that this is my personal computer which i want to customize -- You are receiving this mail because: You are watching all bug changes.
[SeExpr] [Bug 439292] Variable list doesn't update properly when string variable is added to script
https://bugs.kde.org/show_bug.cgi?id=439292 --- Comment #1 from amyspark --- Will fix; but please note that string variables aren't used anywhere in the code. (I guess that they are for internal tools of Disney's.) -- You are receiving this mail because: You are watching all bug changes.
