David Edmundson changed:

I have a couple of observations without any concrete answers.

1) On startup there's a "preloading" path that happens a few seconds after
boot, which effectively loads the fullscreen representation of each window.

For some (broken) reason this leads to target

```
VolumeMonitor {
  id: meter
  target: parent.visible ? model.PulseObject : null
}
```

getting set and immediately unset.
parent.visible should be false throughout preloading,

2) That doesn't fully explain the end result. It does get unset, our cleanup
method does get called and that does unref the stream. That works fine in all
future invocations, just not the first one.

Simplification done by Jonathan Marten.

I don't understand why it fixes the crash though, but at least
it's not worse.

[dolphin] [Bug 439352] New: An option "Overwrite if larger" in the File Already Exists dialog window

2021-06-30 Thread bugzilla_noreply
https://bugs.kde.org/show_bug.cgi?id=439352

Bug ID: 439352
Summary: An option "Overwrite if larger" in the File Already
Exists dialog window
   Product: dolphin
   Version: 19.12.3
  Platform: Debian stable
OS: Linux
Status: REPORTED
  Severity: wishlist
  Priority: NOR
 Component: general
  Assignee: dolphin-bugs-n...@kde.org
  Reporter: myndstr...@protonmail.ch
CC: kfm-de...@kde.org
  Target Milestone: ---

SUMMARY
When copying multiple files it can happen that the source files are the same
content (or purpose) as the destination files and have the same names but have
a larger file-size.

This can occur if the destination files are incomplete because the download or
the copying was aborted (happens all the time for me, especially when trying to
copy files between Android and Debian10). It can also occur when one has a
higher-quality file of the same content.

If there are many files of large file-sizes one has to either manually compare
the file-sizes (not considering some bash scripts of course) or overwrite all
files (by selecting Overwrite and "Apply to All").

It would be very useful if there was a functionality for overwriting if the
source-file is larger ("Overwrite if larger"). This option could displayed
right away when *multiple* files are being copied and file-names are matching
(it could be disabled until "Apply to All" is checked) OR only after one
clicked/checked a "Show more option"/"More" button in that dialog window.

This would probably also be useful for a lot of other use-cases such as quickly
doing backups and restoring them.

This would also easily overwriting smaller destination files without redundant
R/W and time of the copy process or for manual effort.

STEPS TO REPRODUCE
1. Have some files only partially copied (or downloaded) in a directory
2. Try to overwrite the partial files while adding the nonexistent files and
not overwriting complete files with Dolphin

OBSERVED RESULT
One has to manually compare the file-sizes or just overwrite all files with the
same name (this can be a problem in many cases beyond the extra time and disk
R/W such as for Android devices with bad connection).

EXPECTED RESULT
A way/button to overwrite only if larger for all files automatically.

SUMMARY
I've been trying to use Yakuake on Fedora for two days now. I moved from Arch
to Fedora to help the KDE community report bugs in this distro, and it's the
first time I've had problems with Yakuake, which I've always used on Plasma.
Once installed, it works normally, however, after the next use, it appears
completely out of place on the screen, leaving a gap between the panel -- which
I use at the top of the screen -- and the desktop , something I've never seen
before in any other distro I've used with Plasma (Arch, Neon, openSUSE
Tumbleweed, Kubuntu, etc).
The application itself works normally. The problem is just the way Yakuake
presents itself on the screen after a few uses.
I apologize for any grammatical errors. I'm Brazilian and my English is not so
good.

ADDITIONAL INFORMATION

I don't use any kind of external themes or external scripts.
I use totally pure Plasma, the way the developers make it available to us end

At the time of the Yakuake problem, I hadn't installed any plasmoids yet. But I
usually use some.

[kdeconnect] [Bug 439348] New: Document directory forced to name "home"

2021-06-30 Thread bugzilla_noreply

Bug ID: 439348
Summary: Document directory forced to name "home"

  Platform: openSUSE RPMs
OS: Linux
Status: REPORTED
  Severity: normal

  Assignee: albertv...@gmail.com

  Target Milestone: ---

SUMMARY
On resolution of https://bugs.kde.org/show_bug.cgi?id=439228 I found several
problems with the file system expose plugin. This one reports the forcing of
the name "home" for the "document" location.

STEPS TO REPRODUCE
1. On phone, with title of connection showing at top, select "Plugin settings"
from three dots menu.
2. Select Add location
3. Choose the folder "Documents"

OBSERVED RESULT
The folder is exported as the name "home"

EXPECTED RESULT
Freedom to call it what I want. "Home" in linux terms is the name for the
folder above Documents (on OpenSuse at least) and so not even correct. A
consequence of this seems to be that other folders with system names become
mapped below this export even if they are peers on the phone. Some other peer
folders which I created eg Documents-2 cannot be exported after this. They just
get a red exclamation in the "location" field of the confirmation box.
It is impossible to delete these assignments (separately reported), so I cannot
reproduce the steps to check.
Previous versions allowed me to export Documents as Documents.

> "If the screensaver is not activated then the idle timers will be reset. "

The precondition in that sentence is strange, because it doesn't match what
happens with actual user activity. Perhaps it was an oversight? Was it
written before the "Allow unlocking without password" configuration setting
existed?

> Can you expand on your use case?

The use case is gaming. I maintain a utility called joystickwake that delays
screen blankers in response to game controller input, but this issue also
applies to games and emulators that would do so themselves.

Scenario:

- User starts playing a joystick-based game with no mouse or keyboard activity.
- SimulateUserActivity events periodically reset the screen timeout.
- User pauses the game, perhaps to answer a phone call.
- SimulateUserActivity calls are not produced while the joystick is idle.
- Screen times out & goes blank.
- User notices this and moves the joystick to wake the screen.
- Screen does not wake.
- User now has to put down the joystick, walk across the room, use the mouse or
keyboard to wake the screen, walk back across the room, and pick up the
joystick, before resuming play.

If SimulateUserActivity actually simulated user activity, moving the joystick
would have been sufficient to wake the screen.

I have /etc/xdg/autostart/baloo_file.desktop , it seems that should be enough
for it to start. `/usr/libexec/kf5/klauncher
/etc/xdg/autostart/baloo_file.desktop` fails with
klauncher: This program is not supposed to be started manually.
klauncher: It is started automatically by kdeinit5.
But not for me. I don't know how to debug KDE startup.

One workaround is run System Settings > File Search, uncheck [Enable File
Search], [Apply], then check it and [Apply].

I also have a /usr/lib/systemd/user/kde-baloo.service , but starting Baloo as
above does not make it show up in `systemctl --user status kde-baloo`, so KDE
on Fedora is not using this systemd unit. `systemctl --user start
kde-baloo.service` is another workaround.

[kmymoney] [Bug 358410] Home page / account listing / several spaces in the account name are not displayed

2021-06-30 Thread Jack
https://bugs.kde.org/show_bug.cgi?id=358410

I just checked with 5.1.1, where I have a few accounts with multiple spaces in
the name (added to affect the sorting on the home page.) On the home page, the
extra spaces DO (correctly) affect the sorting, but they are not shown
(presumably due to use of HTML) where the spaces DO show on the Accounts View.
I can't tell from the original post whether the sorting was not working as
expected, or not. If the OP does not respond, I would close as NOTABUG or
WORKSFORME, and let the OP open a wishlist to use other fields in the
sorting/display of accounts, if still desired.

[plasma-browser-integration] [Bug 439344] New: The option to blacklist a domain disappeared from the menu for media control

2021-06-30 Thread zjeffer
https://bugs.kde.org/show_bug.cgi?id=439344

Bug ID: 439344
Summary: The option to blacklist a domain disappeared from the
menu for media control
   Product: plasma-browser-integration
   Version: unspecified
  Platform: Other
OS: Linux
Status: REPORTED
  Severity: minor
  Priority: NOR
 Component: general
  Assignee: k...@privat.broulik.de
  Reporter: vanhouttet...@gmail.com
  Target Milestone: ---

SUMMARY

I recently got a new PC and installed Arch Linux on it, with exactly the same
configurations as my previous PC. I noticed that the section to exclude a
domain from being managed by media controls is gone. I tried this on multiple
sites, with both Firefox 89.0.2-1 and Chromium 91.0.4472.114-1.

OBSERVED RESULT
When opening the extension menu in the top right of my browser (both on Firefox
and Chromium), I only see a blue header saying "Plasma Browser Integration",
with the KDE logo under it.

EXPECTED RESULT
I should see a section for media controls, with a checkbox to enable/disable
media controls on the currnet domain.

SOFTWARE/OS VERSIONS
Linux/KDE Plasma: Arch Linux 5.12.13 with bspwm (not running Plasma)
KDE Plasma Version: 5.22.2.1-1
KDE Frameworks Version: 5.83.0-1
Qt Version: 5.15.2+kde+r203-1

My previous system has exactly the same versions.

ADDITIONAL INFORMATION

The reason I'm still using this extension on a non-plasma setup is because
Firefox still hasn't implemented full MPRIS support.

How can I start debugging why this option won't appear.

[kmymoney] [Bug 438747] Duplicate transaction date

OK, so what I think would work from the UX perspective is that after
duplicating a transaction, the new transaction should be shown in "Edit" mode,
ideally focused on the date already. I'd agree with you that a duplicated
transaction hardly ever does not need any amending.

[kolourpaint] [Bug 439343] New: "Make Confidential" blurs extra area in non-rectangular selection

2021-06-30 Thread Shinjo Park

Bug ID: 439343
Summary: "Make Confidential" blurs extra area in

   Product: kolourpaint
   Version: unspecified
  Platform: Other
OS: Linux
Status: REPORTED
  Severity: normal

  Target Milestone: ---

Created attachment 139764
  --> https://bugs.kde.org/attachment.cgi?id=139764=edit
Circular selection of profile images on KDE Community Twitter and performed
"Make Confidential". The blur is not limited to the circular area, but extends
to the bounding rectangle.

SUMMARY
If I make a circular selection and perform "Make Confidential" action, it adds
a blur not only inside a circular selection, but also along to the inner
borders of a circular selection. I tried to use this feature to blur out the
circular profile pictures and names from the screenshot of e.g. Facebook and
Twitter, but I am also seeing the blur outside of the circle which is not quite
optimal.

STEPS TO REPRODUCE
1. Make a circular or freehand selection.
2. Apply "Make Confidential".

OBSERVED RESULT
Blur applied also outside of the circular/freehand area of selection, extending
to the bounding rectangle of circle/freeform.

EXPECTED RESULT
Blur only applied within the circular/freehand area of selection. Attached
image is KDE Community Twitter capture, and tried to blur out profile pictures
by making a circular selection and "Make Confidential". Note that the original
profile picture is circular, after "Make Confidential" a rectangular area
around the circle got blurred.

SUMMARY
On resolution of https://bugs.kde.org/show_bug.cgi?id=439228 I found several
problems with the file system expose plugin. This one reports the inability
define a location with the primary location (equivalent to linux root)

STEPS TO REPRODUCE
1. On phone, with title of connection showing at top, select "Plugin settings"
from three dots menu.
2. Select Addlocation
3. Navigate up to root / primary file name (which shows name of phone)
4. Click use this folder and then allow in the permissions box which follows

OBSERVED RESULT
Either a blank location field in the confirmation box which will not let me
proceed
or
primary: as the location, but the link never works. This version happened first
and I cannot now see it to reproduce it.

EXPECTED RESULT
Previous version allowed primary location to be exposed to PC and it worked
well.

Its as you said --> When i open additional instances etc. your scritp does not
get active
--> has anyone an idea how i can "debug" to see what re-sets my window to the
last position?

I also did stop and restart plasmadesktop process

In addition to the last comments, the (only) ways to enable/apply sub-pixel
anti-aliasing is either by cycling through sub-pixel rendering options
RGB->None->RGB (with pressing Apply after each step) or by disabling and then
enabling Anti-aliasing (again with Apply after each step). It cannot be applied
by changing the Hinting options.
I also confirm that sub-pixel anti-aliasing is not applied by default, although
it is set in Fonts settings.
The above behavior is observed with neon-developer-20210628-1846.iso image.
It looks the issue is partially fixed.

Thanks for your update. Before I saw your earlier post, I had not realized
that running X11 instead of Wayland was even an option. I tried it, it was a
simple switch, and it worked for me. I never had the freezes like what I had
with Wayland.

When I saw the 5.22.1 updates for plasma a few days ago, I installed them. I
tenuously tried Wayland, and it worked again. I am trying to stay with it,
even though there are other issues, because I get the inference that X11 will
be deprecated in the foreseeable future.

Thanks for your assistance.

Just follow the dots (Pun intendend :) to see if there is anything you changed
that might be related to window behavior. And temporarily undo the change to
see if it helps.

> I do NOT see the described behaviour from
> https://bugs.kde.org/show_bug.cgi?id=428272

Hah, indeed, my own Script is not affected by it... But the original Quick tile
(Meta + arrow) still has this issue on my Manjaro. Cool.

Hmm, can you try to boot into a Manjaro live CD and try to reproduce this? Best
in a VM. If you manage that, tell me how and I can see if I find a reason. I
still don't see how my script could be possibly involved as again, it only
reacts to shortcut presses and should be inactive in all other cases. But
wouldn't be the first time I was surprised by how things work :-)

One other thing I could imagine is that you have some other window manager
script installed, or something is trying to arrange your windows in a certain
way when opening. Maybe some effect? Odd odd odd

 Component: general
  Assignee: kdelibs-b...@kde.org
  Reporter: ralph.ocdo...@gmail.com
CC: kdelibs-b...@kde.org
  Target Milestone: ---

SUMMARY
This bug was triggered by KDE Connect when I was donwloading on my mobile
device, the notification keeps sending a notification to KDE Connect thus
triggering the notification again and again until my machine freezes as it uses
more and more resources 'till max. Although it can be caused by KDE Connect,
not having a limiter or something on notification can be dangerous on its own,
imagine a malicious application finds its way to your machine and simulate the
exact same thing, bombarding you with notifications.

STEPS TO REPRODUCE
This is actually hard to reproduce but could possibly be simulated through a
bash script.
1. Create an infinite loop
2. Within the loop, insert this code --> zenity --notification --text="test"

OBSERVED RESULT
This should create a notification for each iteration thus simulating the
problem

EXPECTED RESULT
Machine hangs/freezes

(In reply to cyslider from comment #9)
> Can you please test if you also get this behavior when you disable "Better
> quick tiles" but use the normal 2x2, built in, quick tile shortcuts?

I tested it now several times
If the Windows gets moved via normal built in function (Meta + ArrowKeys -or-
Meta + Shift + ArrowKeys) the window never "changes size by itsself"

(In reply to cyslider from comment #5)
> Also there is one limitation that can also lead or magnify strange effects.
> The position set by the script is not > saved as the last size/position of
> the window. Only if modified manually by the user, this gets saved (and
> restored after maximize for example) See
> https://bugs.kde.org/show_bug.cgi?id=428272 for details on this

OK sounds, that it can have to do with this
- I can minimize and maximize the window to taskbar and back but the size and
position stays always the same
- In case of a window "changes size by itsself", it seems that especially only
size is changed to an older stored one --> The position where i docked the
window stays more or less the same

(In reply to cyslider from comment #9)
> I still bet this is due to the position not being saved and something
> triggering a "restore last position" that will then not restore the last
> quick position but instead the last user manipulated position.

Yes i agree
But i have no clue how to find out what "something" it is
--> In the two screen captures you see two very differtent situation
Situation1: Opening a second instance of dolphing --> First instance changes
size
Situation2: Causing a popup to appear --> the one and only Brave instance
changes size

(In reply to cyslider from comment #9)
> Also, quite conveniently, KDE Settings now can show you all settings you
> changed from default (Highlight Changed Settings in the lower left). Make

But im not sure for what to search --> Ive changed many settings due to the
fact that this is my personal computer which i want to customize
