--- Comment #16 from Sayan Chakroborty  ---
I am facing this issue on Arch Linux where I don't have plymouth installed and
so naturally I don't get any splash screen that says press C to cancel but it
fails anyway because I get the same update notification after booting to
plasma. How do I fix it without plymouth? I don't want to install and configure
plymouth because my system doesn't like it and causes plymouth to hang for more
than 10 seconds on reboot or shutdown.

OS: Linux
Status: REPORTED
  Severity: normal

SUMMARY
If I open some application with a right-click menu, and hold a right-click
somewhere, the right-click menu will show when the click is received, rather
than when it is released. I'm not sure when this started to happen, and not
sure if it's a KDE config issue or some QT or XKB issue.

STEPS TO REPRODUCE
1. Open Dolphin or some other app.
2. Right click somewhere on it, holding the click and moving the mouse.

OBSERVED RESULT
The right-click menu appears on button click.

--- Comment #17 from tagwer...@innerjoin.org ---
(In reply to Martin Steigerwald from comment #15)
> What for does Baloo need an invariant for the file?
As I understand it... internally, it is the key within the index. It also
allows "missed changes" to be reconciled if baloo is not running when the file
is changed or has missed the inotify.

> Why wouldn't a rename mess things up without an invariant (device number
> or filesystem id)? Or otherwise put how would having device/filesystem
> unique invariant help with a rename?
I think "the trap" is to avoid reindexing everything in a large folder tree if
you rename the top foldername. You need a way to tell if oldtree/x/y/z is the
same file as newname/x/y/z or not...

>From my experience, baloo has to react to inotify events and also be able to
smoothly recover/catch up if the events are missed.

> ... I bet you'd need a file/directory based
> invariant for that. I.e. a hash value for each file ...
Baloo also allows you to index the filename/metadata and not index the content.
A hash would be extra work here...

Yes, but I tried different driver versions and the problem is always here. And
one more thing - the driver version was the same between 5.21 and 5.22. On 5.21
this problem doesn't exist but it's here with 5.22.

2021-06-26 Thread bugzilla_noreply

--- Comment #3 from magnus.gros...@gmail.com ---
The problem is that when the desktop file does not define the MimeType handler
but the user says that the program should be the default for that handler, then
kde-open5 will open the service with the respective mimetype not set, which
will cause the resultingArguments() method to think that it cannot handle %u
for that mimetype EVEN THOUGH the user overwrote the mimeapps.list such that
the program is the default for that mimetype (currently default for some
mimetype does not imply that the desktop file contains the Mimetype line for
that mimetype, which is the problem here).

[kdenlive] [Bug 439194] New: Effects on clips (in project bin) stop being applied to timeline clip zones

2021-06-26 Thread Ryan K
https://bugs.kde.org/show_bug.cgi?id=439194

Bug ID: 439194
   Summary: Effects on clips (in project bin) stop being applied
to timeline clip zones
   Product: kdenlive
   Version: 21.04.2
  Platform: Appimage
OS: Linux
Status: REPORTED
  Severity: minor
  Priority: NOR
 Component: Effects & Transitions
  Assignee: vpi...@kde.org
  Reporter: ryan.ke...@gmail.com
  Target Milestone: ---

SUMMARY
Effects applied to clips in project bin (e.g. Chroma Key dragged onto entire
clip in project bin) stop being applied to the zones/copies of that clip in the
timeline. Disabling and then re-enabling the associated timeline clips fixes
the issues. Note that all of the timeline zone clips must be selected at the
same time when doing the workaround, otherwise the unselected clips will have
their project bin effects unapplied.

I am not sure exactly what else might trigger the "forgetting" of the project
bin clip effects.

STEPS TO REPRODUCE
1. Drag project bin clip into timeline twice.
2. Drag effect (e.g. Chroma Key) onto a clip in project bin.
3. Disable and re-enable one of the clips in timeline (there may be other
triggers but this one seems reliable).
4. The other clip will now lose it's effects.
5. Select both clips and disable and re-enable them both. Both clips will have
effects applied.

OBSERVED RESULT
Clip zones no longer have project bin clip effects applied.

EXPECTED RESULT
Clip zones always reflect the effects of bin clip effects.

[amarok] [Bug 438651] Amarok stalls if the Previous Track button is pressed but the file not longer exists

2021-06-26 Thread Toni Asensi Esteve
https://bugs.kde.org/show_bug.cgi?id=438651

--- Comment #8 from Toni Asensi Esteve ---
In the tests that I performed, using the Standard mode (it utilizes
StandardTrackNavigator), everything worked as it was expected. Great!

Using the Random Mode, if some track files do not exist:
- The Previous Track button also works!
- However, pressing the Next Track button sometimes fails.

INFORMATION THAT MAY HELP

Pedro Gomes lately made this improvement:

Playlist::NonlinearTrackNavigator::requestLastTrack()
{
doItemListsMaintenance();

-quint64 lastItem = m_historyItems.isEmpty() ? 0 :
m_historyItems.takeLast();
+quint64 lastItem = 0;
+while (!m_historyItems.isEmpty())
+{
+quint64 possibleLastItem = m_historyItems.takeLast();
+if (m_model->trackForId(possibleLastItem)->isPlayable()) {
+lastItem = possibleLastItem;
+break;
+}
+}

setCurrentItem( nextItem );
return m_currentItem;
}

Perhaps a similar change is needed in the following function?

Playlist::NonlinearTrackNavigator::requestNextTrack()
{
doItemListsMaintenance();

ItemList *donor = nextItemChooseDonorList();
quint64 nextItem = donor ? donor->takeFirst() : 0;

setCurrentItem( nextItem );
return m_currentItem;
}

Thanks for Amarok!

There's some analysis/discussion/confusion about the percentages here:

https://bugs.kde.org/show_bug.cgi?id=354636#c10

I think the "used" sizes are believable. I have copied/compressed a test index
with

[kwin] [Bug 438789] kwin_wayland crashed in KWin::DrmGpu::updateOutputs while un/re-plugging monitor

2021-06-26 Thread Zamundaaa
https://bugs.kde.org/show_bug.cgi?id=438789

--- Comment #5 from Zamundaaa  ---
I looked into it a bit more and there's a bunch of
> failed to open drm device at ""
in the wayland session log which mean that KWin is detecting a GPU hotplug (not
unplug!) of a device with an empty path, but failing to use the device (as
intended, as the path is nonsense).
When it crashes adding a hotplugged device seems to suceed but it then fails
updating the outputs on that device.

As to what device gets added or how that would cause a crash, 5.22.1 contains
some more and improved debug logging for the drm stuff and specifically for
hot(un)plugging GPUs, so if you use the env var and 5.22.1 that could yield
some more useful information in the wayland-session log

Paul W. is correct (thanks Paul), but the action is not obvious. You have to
notice "Copy to Clipboard", consider what it would do (copy *what* to
clipboard), then try it out. If you want a selection, say only the kernel
version, you have to "Copy to Clipboard", paste into an editor, then select
what you want.

There are other pages from which you might want to copy (say about the
graphics system); none of has has a "Copy to Clipboard" button.

Can confirm this happens on Windows 10 4.4.4-alpha (git cc5d52c)

This bug isn't specific to the line tool, it's rather a quirk of how the brush
engine works under the hood. You can try to lower the 'spacing' in the brush
tools, but so long as the brush 'updates' are delegated by distance rather than
at the pixel level, I believe pixel brushes will always suffer from this unless
a pixel-art-specific brush engine is created.

I'm not sure if it works (and it might be a bit too complicated/overkill), but
maybe the workingDirectory config option from the Package Support Framework
fixup
(https://docs.microsoft.com/en-us/windows/msix/psf/package-support-framework#create-a-configuration-file)
might be what we're looking for?

The linked documentation says "package-relative path" though, so I'm not sure
if the home folder can be used.

panel indicator

SUMMARY

First of all let me stress out that using gestures is not full-proof like using
keyboard. It is more like hit and miss situation, so visual confirmation is
imperative. Imagine you have entered command in konsole and you've been given
no output.

Usually, this is achieved by leaving a mouse trail on screen as suggested in
future-request https://bugs.kde.org/show_bug.cgi?id=135097.
Now, I'm aware this may be difficult to implement in Wayland session.
Nevertheless, this or any other confirmation is way better than none. E.g.
Easystroke have a panel indicator as shown in the attachment.

SUMMARY
This option will be valuable in software that already make use of mouse
right-click like Firefox+Gesturefy addon, Virtualbox, CAD software,
DoubleCommander, probably some painting apps...
Furthermore, the same button will break mouse gesture provided by the
application (e.g. Firefox+Gesturefy).

The idea is, like in other gesture-recognition software, to have a list of
applications for which instead of the default button, gesture event will be
triggered with alternative one.

ADDITIONAL INFORMATION
FYI: Easystroke is not maintained any more and is not usable in Wayland
session, so we only rely on Plasma =).BTW, it also breaks Meta key ability to
open the 'Applications launcher' on X11.

2021-06-26 Thread Nick Stefanov
https://bugs.kde.org/show_bug.cgi?id=439182

Bug ID: 439182
   Summary: Letters sometimes disappear from panel's objects after
monitor turn off
   Product: plasmashell
   Version: 5.21.4
  Platform: Other
OS: Linux
Status: REPORTED
  Severity: normal
  Priority: NOR
 Component: Desktop Containment
  Assignee: notm...@gmail.com
  Reporter: m...@abv.bg
CC: plasma-b...@kde.org
  Target Milestone: 1.0

SUMMARY
Letters sometimes disappear from panel's objects after monitor turn off. I
observe this problem after upgrade to Plasma 5.22. All my powersaving settings
are turned off. The problem fixes itself if I open another program so the new
window push the other panel object and they get refreshed for the new position.
Another fix is to open a new web site and the Firefox entry gets fixed. Open
another tab in Dolphin which is with different name also fixes it.
Here's a screenshot:

STEPS TO REPRODUCE
1. Turn off monitor.
2.
3.

OBSERVED RESULT
There's no letters in panel's open applications.

EXPECTED RESULT
Letters in panel's open applications.

--- Comment #2 from Christoph Cullmann  ---
I searched for a way to set the working dir for the appx stuff, failed so far.

That would be in my eyes the only "usable" solution.

We can't know inside the application if the current working dir is a good
fallback or not, in most cases, e.g. if you started from terminal it is, here
it isn't.

The Application Menu/Dashboard can be configured to show often used
applications but there seems to be no way to configure the number of items that
are shown. For me, the 14 most used applications are shown on the Application
Dashboard and I would like to increase this number.

[plasmashell] [Bug 439179] New: Applications started from the search do not score as often used

2021-06-26 Thread Theo
https://bugs.kde.org/show_bug.cgi?id=439179

Bug ID: 439179
   Summary: Applications started from the search do not score as
often used
   Product: plasmashell
   Version: 5.21.5
  Platform: openSUSE RPMs
OS: Linux
Status: REPORTED
  Severity: normal
  Priority: NOR
 Component: Application Menu (Kicker)
  Assignee: h...@kde.org
  Reporter: alpha0...@yahoo.de
CC: plasma-b...@kde.org
  Target Milestone: 1.0

SUMMARY
Applications that are started from the search function in the Application
Menu/Dashboard do not get their cached score updated. This means the
applications will not qualify to be shown in the often used application menu,
no matter how often they are used over the search.

STEPS TO REPRODUCE
1. Pick an application and check the cached score in the resource score cache.
2. Start the application from the search in Application Menu (Kicker) or the
Application Dashboard.
3. Check the cached score again.

OBSERVED RESULT
The cached score is unchanged.

EXPECTED RESULT
The cached score should increase.

[plasmashell] [Bug 439178] New: Often used favorites decrease number of often used applications in menu

2021-06-26 Thread Theo
https://bugs.kde.org/show_bug.cgi?id=439178

Bug ID: 439178
   Summary: Often used favorites decrease number of often used
applications in menu
   Product: plasmashell
   Version: 5.21.5
  Platform: openSUSE RPMs
OS: Linux
Status: REPORTED
  Severity: normal
  Priority: NOR
 Component: Application Menu (Kicker)
  Assignee: h...@kde.org
  Reporter: alpha0...@yahoo.de
CC: plasma-b...@kde.org
  Target Milestone: 1.0

SUMMARY
The number of often used applications that are shown in the Application
Menu/Dashboard depends on how many favorites score as most used applications in
the "resource score cache". In the following, I assume that 14 is the hard
coded maximum number of often used applications shown in the menu.

STEPS TO REPRODUCE
1. Start with no favorites and more than 14 applications with a score in the
resource score cache.
2. Set (for example) 12 of the often used applications shown in the menu as
favorites.

OBSERVED RESULT
Only 2 applications are shown as often used and no more than that, no matter
how high the cached score of any other application is.

EXPECTED RESULT
The menu should show the configured number of often used applications, or less
only if there are not enough applications recorded in the cache. It makes sense
to exclude often used favorites from the often used application selection, but
this shouldn't decrease the total number of often used applications shown in
the menu.
