[digikam] [Bug 475329] Initiating slide show goes to full screen black (or background color) and does not display images.
https://bugs.kde.org/show_bug.cgi?id=475329 --- Comment #6 from caulier.gil...@gmail.com --- hi, I can reproduce the problem but not exactly as described in this report. I use the same version of MacOS, on a macbook pro intel computer as Bruce. If i select an album with JPEG or HEIF files, and run Slideshow with F9, all work as expected. But if i press the configure slideshow button, the dialog appears in full screen. press close or ok button, give a black screen. I can always access to the main menu of digiKam on the top. i can restart the slideshow by the View menu and contents and bar on the bottom reappears. Pressing stop buttom give a black screen. Going to main menu on top and quit digiKam will restore the slideshow configure dialog while few second and digiKam stop normally. I suspect that slideshow configure dialog is the problem here. Perhaps t here is a wrong setup with this dialog which break the full screen mode. Gillles -- You are receiving this mail because: You are watching all bug changes.

https://bugs.kde.org/show_bug.cgi?id=475653 --- Comment #7 from Michael Butash --- I've been itching to actually try plasma6, but like James I too am on Arch, it's not exactly cut and dry to get it or run it. Plus a number of the issues mentioned were applicable to my use cases, so I've held off as I use my main rig for work and life in general. Sadly trying it any other way like a vm or spare lappy isn't really doable as most of my issues seem to be directly hardware related either graphics drivers, my TB dock(s), or at least graphics related that I doubt my use problems would be the same. Next time I get some downtime from customer projects, I will see if I can boot live neon to run for more than a quick weekend to be ready for work on monday. https://bugs.kde.org/show_bug.cgi?id=475653 --- Comment #6 from James North --- Checking ~/.local/share/kscreen, I see my three sets of config files for my displays. First, in a file in the root directory (DP-2 and HDMI-A-1), then in the outputs directory (HDMI-1 and DP-3), and then in the control/configs directory (HDMI-1 and DP-3). I can't see any configuration files here though: ~/config/plasma-org.kde.plasma.desktop-appletsrc ~/config/plasmashellrc As for trying Plasma 6...this might be beyond me. There doesn't appear to be an existing AUR package, so I'll probably need to compile it from source. [plasmashell] [Bug 475896] New: Wayland: Task Manager does not track open windows
https://bugs.kde.org/show_bug.cgi?id=475896 Bug ID: 475896 Summary: Wayland: Task Manager does not track open windows Classification: Plasma Product: plasmashell Version: 5.27.8 Platform: Archlinux OS: Linux Status: REPORTED Keywords: wayland Severity: normal Priority: NOR Component: Task Manager and Icons-Only Task Manager Assignee: plasma-b...@kde.org Reporter: spyst...@gmail.com CC: qydwhotm...@gmail.com Target Milestone: 1.0 Flags: Wayland+ SUMMARY Since Plasma 5.27.8 task manager occasionally stops tracking open windows on a wayland session. This issue looks deceptively similar to Bug 429168 however it only appeared between 5.27.7 and 5.27.8. Although they manifest in the same manner they are probably caused by different issues. I also get the same warning as in Bug 429168 when starting up plasmashell from the terminal ("org.kde.kf5.kwindowsystem.kwayland: This compositor does not support the Plasma Window Management interface") and also as in Bug 429168 the issue appears on all flavours of task manager. Reverting plasma-workspace (which provides plasmashell) back to 5.27.7 stops the problem from appearing. I browsed the git commits of plasma-workspace between 5.27.7 and 5.27.8 and there were a few commits that *look* like they might be associated with this, for instance this [0] or this [1] but unfortunately I am not qualified enough to say. [digikam] [Bug 412894] Import window causes digiKam to hang in macOS
https://bugs.kde.org/show_bug.cgi?id=412894 --- Comment #16 from Geoff King --- Hi. As an updated. I tried the latest, 8.2.0 prerelease, Build date: 10/19/23 on MacBook M2 with 13.6 (22G120). I tried connecting iPhone via cable and Nikon camera via cable. The Import interface just said: Failed to connect to the camera. Please make sure it is connected properly and turned on. Neither the Nikon or iPhone were listed, but the SSD which is part of the library was listed as a drive. It did not crash, scan, hang, or require a force close. It basically did nothing. Just didn't do anything to find images on iPhone or Nikon. So that may be an improvement that it doesn't hang. I have gotten used to importing images in a different way using Finder directly from the Nikon's SD card, so this bug doesn't really affect me now. -- You are receiving this mail because: You are watching all bug changes.

[frameworks-ktexteditor] [Bug 475892] New: KTextBuffer tries to authenticate as root to save a file even if the file is owned by the user
https://bugs.kde.org/show_bug.cgi?id=475892 Bug ID: 475892 Summary: KTextBuffer tries to authenticate as root to save a file even if the file is owned by the user Classification: Frameworks and Libraries Product: frameworks-ktexteditor Version: 5.110.0 Platform: Archlinux OS: Linux Status: REPORTED Severity: normal Priority: NOR Component: general Assignee: kwrite-bugs-n...@kde.org Reporter: zocsfxljsgpmiua...@protonmail.com Target Milestone: --- SUMMARY When a file cannot be saved due to permission issues, KTextBuffer always tries to use the KAuth action "org.kde.ktexteditor.katetextbuffer.savefile" to save it as root. Even when the file is actually owned by the user and in a directory controlled by the user, but the user doesn't have write permissions (which, given that the file is theirs, is easy to change). STEPS TO REPRODUCE 1. Remove the write permission of a text file owned by your user 2. Modify it with Kate, KWrite, or any application that uses KTextEditor 3. Try to save it OBSERVED RESULT A polkit dialog asking for authentication as root appears. EXPECTED RESULT Given that you can already change the permission without need of root, KTextEditor should probably simply inform the user about it, change the permission by itself, or something that doesn't involve unnecessary authentication as root. https://bugs.kde.org/show_bug.cgi?id=475779 --- Comment #9 from d7ghrr...@mozmail.com --- Thank you. I've read that page before. It doesn't say, unfortunately, what is the name of the package which contains symbols for these packages. I have line: export DEBUGINFOD_URLS="https://debuginfod.debian.net; already in /etc/profile (and it was there for quite some time). I searched for any package with plasma and dbg words, or karchive and dbg, or even qt and dbg, no result. I don't know where to find debug symbols for them, sorry. -- You are receiving this mail because: You are watching all bug changes.

https://bugs.kde.org/show_bug.cgi?id=475779 --- Comment #8 from Nate Graham --- Thanks, however we're still missing debug symbols for both KArchive and Plasma. As for how to get debug symbols on Debian, hopefully something at https://community.kde.org/Guidelines_and_HOWTOs/Debugging/How_to_create_useful_crash_reports#Debian will help; if not the debuginfod thing, then maybe you can install the -dbg packages manually -- You are receiving this mail because: You are watching all bug changes.
