Also light-dark variants in Kvantum that don't apply to the window border. It's
not an issue with Breeze because breeze doesn't support the user launching apps
with different color variants - but that's a deficiency

But they are never getting fixed because they aren't designed for KDE and never
will be. We are talking mainly about electron apps, different browser profiles

Instead of building a complicated system to facilitate workarounds, I think it
would be better to fix the apps that look ugly. :) We already have a "good
enough" workaround system, so IMO any further effort would be

The custom titlebar color feature can really improve the appearance of certain
windows, but the amount of work that it requires is just prohibitive.

Does anyone think this a good idea? Currently you force a specific title-bar
color by creating a whole color scheme, then creating a kwin rule, then setting
the color scheme in the rule. Then the color schemes and

you mean DWD? stuff like titlebar coloring doesn't require toolkit support or
DWD. it just seemed like it would be relevant to the overall goal of closer
integration between the ssd and apps, which seems worthwhile

CSDs are an anti-solution that regress usability in a million and one ways,
and, as implemented, worsen the problem described here.
I want what you want too, but given the diversity of toolkits in the Linux
world,

Oh these apps don't follow any system color scheme (different toolkit, or it's
a text editor or terminal).
And there is mismatch built into some gtk and kvantum themes, that shows up
under certain circumstances,

It sounds like you should just use a theme that has matching titlebar and
chrome colors then, no? Why try to coerce Breeze into doing this when it's not
a design goal?

Yeah, I see the problem with video players, for example. But these would be
these exception.
Currently, I have non-matching titlebar/chrome for about 10 apps on my system.
To get them to match, I'd have to perform

a) Having KWin do all the work would of course be ideal (the user would still
be able to override just like they do now with rules). Capture the inactive and

We need to get more specific regarding the goal before we can jump to
implementation ideas.
Is the idea here to:

- Optionally allow allow the window

The point is inherit some values regarding contrast from the main theme. That
way the user can define as few colors as possible (usually they just need to
define one color).
- contrast between the active titlebar

I personally would prefer the titlebar to look different from the chrome, but
with the same base color. Sort of like Adwaita does it. There is trend to have
matching colors: android, Gnome, Mac, Windows, they all do

Separating the app-specific titlebar color from the color schemes may also make
it possible to specify the titlebar color at launch, which means app-developers
could theoretically define the color value in their
