Turns out it is a simple package upgrading issue looks like if you upgrade the
package while akonadi is running it can completely bork it's ability to run.

I'm also an arch user and on the upgrade to kmail 2.1.1 had my settings
migrated to the akonadi framework. This was somewhat problematic and I had the

Well an update from me.
As I had backed up my home folder i went into /~mail/ and deleted everything
there.
Viola it works!! got all emails from the pop server, copied all
for akonadi log files - none found
dmesg|grep akonadi got this
