[Kernel-packages] [Bug 1816394] Re: Ubuntu 19.04 qa:test - suspended system resumed without audio (i fixed via add of pavucontrol)
No it's NOT listed as off. When I go there I just take note of what it says ("Analogue Stereo Output" on this d960 box) and turn the profile so it says off. I then re-click the drop-down again to get the list, and put it back to "Analogue Stereo Output" (for my current box). It's occurred on Lubuntu, Ubuntu, Ubuntu-Studio in QA-Testing (http://iso.qa.ubuntu.com/qatracker/reports/bugs/1816394) logs, it occurs also in debian-testing and has occurred for some time (ie. year+). I just pause my music player, vlc or anything that creates sound, and the chance of it occurring (ie. no sound on resume) is extremely-rare. (I don't tend to suspend my fedora/opensuse boxes, so I'm not sure if it's just ubuntu/debian affected sorry). A program should be playing sound when suspended if trying to re-create this (as it almost never occurs otherwise, and it's only occasional anyway). As for what else I've tried - currently I can't recall anything... This has occurred over a number of releases, and I only put it in a bug-report because it occurred during my QA-testing sorry - my bad. -- You received this bug notification because you are a member of Kernel Packages, which is subscribed to linux in Ubuntu. https://bugs.launchpad.net/bugs/1816394 Title: Ubuntu 19.04 qa:test - suspended system resumed without audio (i fixed via add of pavucontrol) Status in linux package in Ubuntu: Incomplete Bug description: Ubuntu 19.04 QA-Test (LIVE x86_64) Dell optiplex d755, (c2d-e8300, 8gb, Radeon HD 2400 PRO/XT) Two dell displays, left is landscape, right is portrait This live test had two packages added: `vim` & `ubuntu-restricted- extras` Background: I added ubuntu-restricted-extras so I could run requested test on this system which had me streaming videos from utube - it was required to get around H264 errors (vim because I can't cope with other editors & added `multiverse` to my sources. When you resume with no audio and have pavucontrol installed already, if you go to the profile selection tab, is it in the "off" state? 3. [Kernel-packages] [Bug 1816394] Re: Ubuntu 19.04 qa:test - suspended system resumed without audio (i fixed via add of pavucontrol)
It was a 'live' QA-test so re-running the test may not result in the same detail, and is extremely unlikely to match PID. I can try to do it again (tried same tests using same ISO on two different boxes, it does re-occur but not very often). It occurs most often on dell 755's (I have 3 but two in particular), dell 960 (most common where I stop media from playing before I suspend which causes it to occur extremely rarely). I've learnt to live with it. dell [optiplex] 755 (c2d-e6850, 5gb, amd/ati radeon rv516/x1300/x1550) - lubuntu 18.04 (occurs rarely as I usually don't suspend this one) dell [optiplex] 960 (c2q-q9400, 8gb, amd/ati cedar radeon hd 5000/6000/7350/8350) - ubuntu 18.04 lts & ubuntu 19.04 (my main box so occurs here most) dell [optiplex] 755 (c2d-e8300, 8gb, amd/ati radeon rv610/radeon hd2400 pro/xt) - runs debian-testing; occurs a lot here as i suspend this heaps too; but not ubuntu; this is the box I ran qa-test on. Changing bug-status to confirmed as I can't apport-collect in a meaningful way in my opinion because it was a 'live' qa-test. I'll re- run tests on request if I'm told what to try and re-create & save. ** Changed in: linux (Ubuntu) Status: Incomplete => Confirmed -- You received this bug notification because you are a member of Kernel Packages, which is subscribed to linux in Ubuntu. https://bugs.launchpad.net/bugs/1816394 Title: Ubuntu 19.04 qa:test - suspended system resumed without audio (i fixed via add of pavucontrol) Status in linux package in Ubuntu: Confirmed Bug description: Ubuntu 19.04 QA-Test (LIVE x86_64) Dell optiplex d755, (c2d-e8300, 8gb, Radeon HD 2400 PRO/XT) Two dell displays, left is landscape, right is portrait This live test had two packages added: `vim` & `ubuntu-restricted- extras` Background: I added ubuntu-restricted-extras so I could run requested test on this system which had me streaming videos from utube - it was required to get around H264 errors (vim because I can't cope with other editors & added `multiverse` to my sources. Issue: With firefox streaming ABC News 24 (local AU news) I suspended machine. Waited Awoke machine - everything resumed as expected .. Some circling was apparent on firefox before picture resumed, however no sound. I was unable to fix it using any tools installed - to fix I `sudo apt install pavucontrol`, went to Configuration (or last tab) and Profile=Off on the drop-down menu, then returned to Profile=AnalogStereo Duplex. This is something I do on occasion for this machine on installed system or other machines I use. This is really a minor issue, & may not be an issue on an installed system (though I come across it semi-regularly & just live with it). In regular use I pause/stop sound & know this makes this almost a non- issue (almost never happens when sound isn't playing). [Kernel-packages] [Bug 1816394] Re: Ubuntu 19.04 qa:test - suspended system resumed without audio (i fixed via add of pavucontrol)
gnome-power-manager only provides an UI to display battery/power stats, that's not the faulty component there, maybe the kernel if it's a driver issue? ** Package changed: gnome-power-manager (Ubuntu) => linux (Ubuntu) -- You received this bug notification because you are a member of Kernel Packages, which is subscribed to linux in Ubuntu. https://bugs.launchpad.net/bugs/1816394 Title: Ubuntu 19.04 qa:test - suspended system resumed without audio (i fixed via add of pavucontrol) Status in linux package in Ubuntu: Incomplete Bug description: Ubuntu 19.04 QA-Test (LIVE x86_64) Dell optiplex d755, (c2d-e8300, 8gb, Radeon HD 2400 PRO/XT) Two dell displays, left is landscape, right is portrait This live test had two packages added: `vim` & `ubuntu-restricted- extras` Background: I added ubuntu-restricted-extras so I could run requested test on this system which had me streaming videos from utube - it was required to get around H264 errors (vim because I can't cope with other editors & added `multiverse` to my sources.
