I just tested the latest upstream 4.11-rc7 which works fine. I didn't
test a previous version of Ubuntu, since I just switched to 17.04 from
Fedora 25.

At one point firefox-trunk goes 100% cpu and it can't even be killed.

This workaround has seemingly fixed the issue for me (temporarily)
- Unpair the headphones from the USB adapter using the Bluetooth Manager
application
- sudo service bluetooth restart
- Pair headphones again and choose A2DF from Sound settings.

I don't think that's necessary, the default value (25000) is larger than
23000, so PS4 is enabled in this case.

Still there is some strange behavior that may be due to this driver.
For instance if follow those steps the audio stops playing until the system is
rebooted
1) Open a flac or mp3 with vlc
2) ... audio plays nicely
3) Open PulseAudio volume control
4) wait

I was having the problem yesterday with 4.10.0-19-generic whose vmlinuz
is dated 8 April.
I installed 4.11.0-rc7 and ran it for awhile today with no problems, but
I don't have a good feeling for how long is necessary to say "I think
