There is no need to be concerned about the wing attach fittings when
built as called for in the plans. I

Excuse me if this has been brought up before... I may have missed it, but I
just got my October Sport Aviation and on pg. 72 is an ad for EAA Aircraft
Insurance that shows a nearly-destroyed airplane with the remains (front half)
still tied down on the ramp. Sure looks like a trigear KR with a
I met Bob Grimstead while in Perth. He's a nice guy, likes to write "flight
test" articles for Aussie and US magazines, but apparently he's not
qualified to speak to the integrity of the KR wing attach system. The
Aussies have dictated a couple of changes to KRs built and flown there, but

I had an engine failure in mine and landed in a field. The wings were
broken off passing through a bunch of saplings and the attach fitting never
even bent. KR-2 is a tough little bird.

I am really miffed about this article. I would like to know what this guy's
qualifications are to make this assumption. I know of no failures of the
wing attach fittings on any KR. To my knowledge there have been no changes
in the wing attach fittings other than dimensionally with the 2S. I'll

and his company nVAero http://www.nvaero.com/ that supplies parts for the KR
series inserted into the KR2 article that is in Nov 2010 Kitplanes.

I saw and read that too. My vote is misinformed as no known failure of said
fittings or bolts and previous tests have shown that area to probably be the
strongest in the entire airframe.

There is an article written by Bob Grimstead about KR2s and specifically about
one he flew that is owned and built by Allen Buzza. The article is a little
bland, as far as building excitement for the KR series in my opinion. This
airplane has the original retract landing gear. It looks pretty go
Very interesting, while looking at your web page I see alot more I need to
study. Nice plane and by the way I am looking for that bubble look without any
or at least a very little speed or drag penalty. Any opinions on that?
Thanks

I have a 601 can canopy already cut down ( not finished) for my next KR2ss,
40 inches at the shoulder, fits well, VERY flexible when cut, and that makes
