KR> Flight Sim and real time
Rob is absolutely right. As for what you can fly that has a similar feel, I recommend some time in a Sonex. The KR is a bit slicker, and most are lighter on the elevator and a bit heavier on the ailerons. If your KR has flaps or belly board, I don't think either is as effective as the flaps on the Sonex, so if you are training for a KR, don't use full flaps for landing. If you have no flaps, practice that way. Time in one of the RV series is also helpful, although most RVs have a greater HP to weight ratio and again, their flaps are more effective than the flaps or belly board on a KR. The RV also has a bit lighter ailerons and heavier elevator as compared to a KR. -Jeff Scott Los Alamos, NM > The biggest issue with my KR2S model is on the drag. KR> Can I borrow a trailer
Get some 4x4 lumber and set the wheel on it -Original Message- From: Matt Lenz via KRnet To: krnet Sent: Sun, Oct 19, 2014 6:58 pm Subject: KR> Can I borrow a trailer KR netters, I purchased a complete KR2 and need to go pick it up. I'm in Central Florida and it is in Central Oklahoma. For budgetary reasons, I want to drive my 1/2 ton pickup to go pick it up, but I don't have a trailer wide enough to handle its wheel base. (It's a tri-gear.) Does anyone between Florida and Oklahoma have a suitable trailer that I can borrow on my way there? Call, email or respond via KRnet. KR> Bob Lee's KR2 Project
Hello All - By now all know that I have had the opportunity to sell Bob's KR2 project. I have sold it to Bob Russell from Canada. Please welcome him to the KR family and help him finish Bob's project. I think it is fitting that his project was sold to another Bob. I thank all of you who help me get information together and put on the website for others to see his project and for all the help that all of you gave me during Bob's illness and passing. Bob left a huge hole in my heart and our childrens hearts as well as others. Please continue to keep our family in your prayers as we move forward with our lives without him. Thank you, Cheryl Lee
KR> Flight Sim and real time
Bob, I'm not sure what simulator or model you are using, but I've set up a KR2S model for X-Plane. There is a link on my web site to the files at www.robert7721.com I will not argue about how effective these are for learning how to fly a KR, but sometimes it's fun to do regardless. You are welcome to take my model and modify to your needs. The biggest issue with my KR2S model is on the drag. In order to get the plane's top speed close to my airplane with only 75 hp, it is so slick she will not slow down for a landing very well. I do not have either a belly board or flaps on my airplane, neither does the model. The model could definitely use either a drag brake or flaps to make it more flyable in the simulator. However this does somewhat replicate real life in a KR - you can float one forever on a landing if you got too much speed. Also, since there is nobody in my area that currently has a KR2 I am wondering if there is a recommendation for some other type of airplane for me to try and get some time in that would ay least give me an indication of what flying a kR2 is like. I know there is nothing exactly like them but just want to get a feel for that speed, type of handling etc. Next year I will certainly try to make it to the gathering so I can hopefully get a ride in one.
