Ok, If you want, they can cut your tank covers to exact measurements. They have a 10 ft share. I would order by phone and call in late in the afternoon (3:30)and ask for Keith. They would then give you the leftovers. Re: KR> Gaston's?
Gaston's is a one way runway with a left circling approach and departure along the same path. It is a really well maintained, rather large grass strip. I have seen king air 200s parked there. As far as climb out, it's not to bad actually as long as you follow the valley out. I've been in and out of there in my old 150 several times with friends. My biggest word of caution is watch for other aircraft as there are several that frequent there that do not have electrical systems. Almost all of them carry a handheld but their transmitters are sometimes iffy. Since the approach and departure corridor overlap with not much wiggle room, you want to make sure your alone as you start a descending turn off of the downwind. The reason for the one way runway is a hill with large power lines on it that prevent takeoff/landing from the west. I usually fly just inside the river on base part of the circle and it ends up with a good point for the final. It tends to look a little spookier than what it really is. Just as a word of caution though, I have seen quite a few aircraft hauled off of there on a trailer over the years, usually heading to the salvage yard. Don't underestimate it but certainly don't let it spook you late in the approach. From what I've heard from others there, getting spooked about getting down and stopped once committed has lead to a good number of the accidents. The road at the end of the runway would be a little bump but there is still a little bit of overrun territory just past the road. If your comfortable on a grass strip this airport will not be a problem and I have always had a good time there. It is a tad bit on the pricey side but it's worth it in my opinion. yes the identifier is 3M0 (that is a zero not an O) near Baxter Co (BPK) Arkansas, have been in and out of there many times with many different airplanes for the last 30+ years. Looking forward to going there again soon. Would love to see some KR's and it should not be a problem with a good KR (east west runway, grass) You may have to watch out for mole holes with your small wheels and the departure headed east bound you will definitely need a good rate of climb. Be sure to check the restaurant schedule before you go there to eat (they have limited schedule for winter hours.) I intend to check it out in the near future. Now there's a great place to have a fly in. A line of small individual air conditioned cabins between the runway and the river are available. Restaurant on site overlooking the river. Boat rental if you want to try your hand at trout fishing the White River. 3200' turf runway, but one way in and one way out with what I have been told is a tricky approach. Video of the approach is on their web site flying in with a Cirrus, so I would expect it to be pretty easy in the KR once I figure out this low altitude flying. I'll probably go explore it with the Cub soon. A number of groups do have Fly-Ins there, including the SuperCub and the "Ladies Love Taildraggers" groups. But the menu for the restaurant seems to be a bit "high brow" (read high priced) for the KR crowd. -Jeff Scott Cherokee Village, AR Sent: Sunday, December 03, 2017 at 7:32 PM From: "Mike Stirewalt via KRnet" To: krnet@list.krnet.org Cc: laser...@juno.com Subject: KR> Gaston's? > "As soon as Jeff Scott gets moved off the mountain and down to the flat lands this should be a good place to meet up for breakfast. A lot of aviation people seem to think it's pretty neat. I've no idea what's neat about it other than if it's a popular destination it'll be a good opportunity to see old friends and some old planes. It's called "Gaston's" and isn't far from Jeff's new place. Re: KR> Gaston's?
Gaston's 58 NM away. I intend to check it out in the near future.
