Hello all,
I have heard of paper string for bobbin lace and would like to try some. I
know that I can get it via mail order from lace suppliers but I would like
to know if it is available in craft stores for other things?
Thanks from a rainy Surrey, BC

I hang "Satin balls" covered with bobbin lace or tatting on the hangers.
Lace angels, bells etc. seem too delicate to show on these holders. Those I
put on artificial trees of different sizes. There's also the plastic balls,
bells, etc. that come apart and you can put lace inside those
I now have 2 ornament holders, made by DH because he couldn't stand to
watch me struggle with the wire-bending tool (I was getting it,
slowly...). Coat hanger wire is more than a bit 'hard' but it was
available; in strong hands, the wire makes a serviceable C-shaped
holder with a built-in base. The

didn't detract from the looks at all.

Hello Wendy
Schappe silk is the German name for spun silk; ie all the bits and
pieces that break of during the reeling process to produce filament
silk. So, "Schappe silk 200/2" isn't a brand and it doesn't tell me
which numbering system is being used. If it's metric Nn 200/2 it's

Have to add my two cents worth. (maybe ten cents) : )
At 72 years young, I have the attitude of if you got it flaunt it. When you

When I was doing beaucoup demos in days past I bought the cup holders at
garage sale and used those.I have no idea there were so many different
kinds and sizes. They are so nice and solid!

What you make may depend on how long you have before the Christening. What
about a small picture to be framed? There are some stylised pictures of
Madonna and child that are not much more than a curved shape which might be
appropriate.

Hi Fellow Lacemakers,
My daughter has been asked to be Godmother for a very good friends daughter
and has asked me to make some lace for the baby. I would love to but do not
know what to make and would appreciate any suggestions.
Thank you in advance

From the diameter point of view: three circles fit exactly within one circle
with a double diameter. But they leave gaps. I don't know what counts for
the thrength: the mass or the surface off the cross section. In the latter
case you might need about a 4-ply to fill the gaps.
And then we are st
