Hi Brian!
I don't think you're being cheeky at all! You're not asking someone to
give you their precious bobbins, only to contribute to your collection
of pictures - which eventually may be available to all of us in some
fashion!
Anyone who doesn't want to participate can quietly ignore

Hi, all,
I may have missed a discussion on the new Anna. Many of us were extremely
disappointed when the German Anna magazine ceased publication about three
years ago. I have some 30 years worth of issues (mostly the English
editions) and have probably used it more than - or at least as much

Hi Spiders:
I can't see the newsagents stocking a German language magazine
It doesn't hurt to check - I was surprised to discover that my local
magazine store now carries all the Burda magazines in German (Anna,

Dear Jacquie and Julie and Others Interested,
First, there is so much on the magazine stands, that I wonder why anyone
complains. Surely, there is something just right for each level of expertise.

Dear Jeri and Arachnes --
Note that the BMA (Baltimore Museum of Art), which is about as lofty

I have heard of needlelace pillows. My understanding is that they are similar
in shape to a small bolster pillow of the shape used in bobbin lace. A
cylinder about 8 inches long and about 6 inches in diameter. I've seen
directions for making one, but can't remember where. The
Hello Hendrika
Our worksop this coming Sat is needle lace, and our lace teacher is
running it.
She does have a bolster pillow as described by Lorelei, but after Sat I
may be able to tell you more.

A needlelace pillow is smaller than a bolster pillow, but larger than the
roller from a roller pillow. A padded cylinder on the order of 4-6 (10-15 cm)
in diameter and 8-10 (20-30 cm) long. The actual size is not important. What
is important is to have some curvature, to get the ends of the
I've been knitting recently also. I like to do something in the evenings

I have 10 balls of Noro Silk Garden which I bought while living in MA,

Hallo Lacers or should I say Knitters,
Your talk about knitting brought back some memories. After I left school in
1937 my friend and I were eager to do something big.
So we decided to knit, and after a few successes with small things we decided
each to knit a table cloth. Well mine took nearly
Hi Pene -
I'm looking forward to seeing Nancy Bush's new book too! It's an
eagerly awaited book, it sounds like!!
Yesterday, I finished the first sock in a pair I'm knitting from Noro
Kureyon wool. This worked up quickly, and kept my hands busy while I
felt too miserable to make lace
Nancy Bush's book on Lace Knitting in Estonia is on my Wish List with
Amazon. I bought her sock book recently and am planning which pattern to
knit first. The Noro yarn Yoga socks for my daughter were non identical -
more siblings than twins! I now have a pair of FitFlops in the new winter
Hi Pene,
When I knitted my cardigan the body was all in one, so no seams to sew.
Instead of casting off, I placed the shoulder stitches on spare needles. When
I was ready to assemble before I could knit the collar, I did a double cast

This pattern I have knitted has absolutely no sewing-up to do at all! It is
a very clever design which is finished the moment you cast off!

Hello all -
I, too, have been knitting lace - haven't touched my bobbins for a while.
It's fascinating to think that I can take a piece of string and two sticks
and end up such wonderful stuff. Much of what I'm using is two-ply
handspun. Takes about six months to a year total work depending
I've been knitting instead of making lace - mostly mittens, hats and
socks. Now my holiday gift knitting is over, all my kids and grandson
are warm and toasty, and I've started a pair of socks for me. They
are a tweedy yarn from Knit Picks, and I think of chocolate and
caramel while I knit. If
