Like many of you, I found the photographs of the Scranton Lace Factory
distressing, and wished it could have been preserved as a heritage site.

The Cluny Lace Co. factory in Ilkeston, Derbys. is still working and I
was fortunate enough with some friends to go over the factory a couple
of years ago. It was their lace that was used for Kate's wedding dress.

it only says that the stamps can be bought at lace days.
And op=op at the bottom means it is a limited edition that won't be

I did a search and ended up at the Netherlands Post Office site, which
(Google translated into English) describes how the Post Office will print
special issue stamps just for you at a price, if you supply all the artwork
- like anniversary ones with the people's picture on it. The Australian
Post
Canada Post does, as well. A lace friend had really cool Christmas stamps
using an image of laces she had made. I looked into it and the cost per
stamp was a lot more than the postage value.

As a child where I lived there was a Silk Weaving Factory at the end of our
road, in the winter all you could hear was the vibrations of all the
machines, but I loved the summer when they had the doors open for
ventilation and we would sit on the step and watch the girls (one of whom
was my aunt)
Hello All! The online photos of the Scranton Lace facility are mind boggling!
Thanks for posting--I can hardly wait to see the TV program. Thanks also for
the tape braid discussion. After making Battenburg as tape lace, I was
surprised when friends labeled Russian Idrija as the same.
All I get is 'page not found'.
