Hi Jeri,
I read most of the Arachne postings and saw that email, and really had no
idea what the problem was. In fact, I went to the Archives to see if I had
missed a posting or thread. I do the same as Adele, and just google the
archives when I need them.
I appreciate all the you post,
Cindy
Dear Lacemakers,
This memo came in over the weekend, and I responded directly to the author
in Australia. Upon further thought, it occurred to me that maybe I should
find out from the remainder of our membership if they think I have an
"attitude", since I am definitely the one who puts
Hi Jeri et al:
> Did other members have problems with learning to use Arachne?
> Were you guided through the process by fellow lacemakers at the beginning?
The main problems I had were common to all e-mail message forums - it was 1996
and I was completely new to e-mail. I can’t remember
Hi Sue
You donât need a custom garter pattern; just use an edging pattern that you
like. Make two copies of it, trim one very close to the footside pins and
place it over the other copy so that there is one line of âfootsieâ pins
down the middle. Omit or blank out every other one of those
The article at the Arizona site is only a review of the work printed in the
magazine Arts & Decoration.
The actual work has three parts.
1.A large scale portfolio of 104 plates (the 'folio' referred to in
the A article). Last one I saw for sale is priced at $661.25. I have a

After a 4 year hiatus, I'm trying to get back to lacemaking, and have a lot of
catching up to do. Can someone tell me how to obtain Gilian Dye's books on the
Early Laces (I have the Elizabethan Lace but nothing published since then -- 3?
4? new books, I hear)? I do not have her e-address to ask
Hi All
As an Australian I feel I should say a few things.

differences are not the issue.
I believe the issue is simply computer access to the web.
I have been involved with computer education since the late 1980's.

Sue, try Alex. Stillwell's new Floral Bucks book. I think there is a garter
in there.
Jeri, - your knowledge and advice is invaluable, and we are so lucky to have
you on the list to 'educate' us . I have been on the receiving end of your
kindness and thoughtfulness, and those 2 little words
Thanks, everyone, for prompt replies. Especial thanks to Bev Walker, for
suggesting Barbara Fay; I just got a mailing from her (well...) and had two
books (not Dye) on my bucket list already. Might as well add the three by Dye.

Lexington,
Hear, hear, Liz. If it wasn't for Jeri some of us would be very naive
about how to care for our lace as such a lot of information is in the
heads of our talented lacemakers/collectors. I've just ordered some
Orvus as I read that this would be the ultimate cleaner for some lace I
need to
Dear Spiders,
Emails are easily mis-interpreted, there are no visual, facial or aural
cues on which we often rely.
Jeri contributes much to the list and this is generous. The email that
Jeri quoted started off with "I am a lurker to Arachne and do find reading
my emails very informative, it is
