I've gone to the website that now sells the Ruth Bean books and sent them a
note at their contact address asking them on behalf of the many lacemakers
out there if they will be republishing Miss Channer's Mat. I'll put this

how do you manage your time so well - you have so much on the go.

Urban Zundt of Zundt Designs in Switzerland did a presentation at a machine
embroidery conference I attended a few years ago and some of the fabrics he
displayed created fabric that looks very similar to the effect on Mrs.

Lynn S coming out of lurkdom, Wollongong,
I just did a two day workshop with Barbara Underwood in Sydney and the
subject of Miss Channer's mat came up. She told the very unfortunate story
of the disappearance of the original mat made by Miss Channer. It was on
display with a furniture exhibition and when the exhibition closed and the
Brenda, If you go by your basic formula for a lace fair, we are doing
quite well in New South Wales. At our last bimonthly lace day in Sydney, we
had our usual 2 general suppliers who both carry just about everything
needed books, bobbins, threads, and both have their own specialty items as
well.
Does it ever occur to the tradition fusspots that if those women had
machines, better lighting, better pins, etc., they would not have availed
themselves of the convenience of machine sewing their lace onto garments so
they had more time to make lace?

I have been working on a edging for a Christening bonnet to go with a gown I

I'm just coming out of lurkdom to say what an absolute shame that everything
lacey has been given away. I didn't become interested in lace until 1976
and didn't start making it until 1995. When I went back to Canada to visit
my father's family in 2002, I was making lace at may travel pillow,

The biggest swearing session trying to make lace was the day my very tall

My mother's Singer had a buttonhole attachment. She got the machine for a
