Some years ago, while browsing through some old ? Victorian or early 20th Century Ladies Handcraft books in a little off-beat museum, I found a chapter on Lacemaking, - and there, too, it said to put up the pins, and then wind the threads around them! :)) It seems to be a general

While looking for information about lace conservators, I came across this on a lace web site, and thought I would share it: Bobbin lace is more common [than needlelace] and was used in linens and lingerie. It is made on a pillow by twisting many threads around pins. This is called bobbing,
