It is especially important in the US to wear lace, as so many people have
never seen or really heard of hand made lace. I wear T shirts a lot, so
thatâs where I put it. I like to use Aurifil, as that is quilting thread,
made to be washed. Itâs sturdy, same wpc as Egyptian 60. It is a risk,
I have found another source for the fabric, and they ship to some other
countries. Pricey for cotton fabric, but itâs the same pattern, but in
white with black.

I want to point out that there are different viewpoints on cleaning lace, and
things to be considered. Clealning old lace will have different considerations

I found the fabrics in JoAnn's. It is much darker than it appears in the
pictures I've seen.
I doubt that the other source is copying. More likely it is buying from the
same wholesale source that JoAnn's buys from.

Yes - on second thought if JoAnn's is giving out the design for you to
print - for free - I guess they didn't copyright it. There's no indication
that they did on the selvage.

More Information - OIDFA Congress in Slovenia, from the woman in the

It looks to me to be the exact lace fabric at Jo-Ann's. What I purchased there
was not as white as the pictures indicated, and I would be willing to bet this

regular price is $9.99 a yard, I'm wondering if this individual

Hello,
Having just finished my first lace motif on a bolster pillow, I'm in need
of advice. My Idrija bobbins, wound with linen thread, repeatedly had
"growing" leads (distance between the bobbin and the pillow) on them. What
do people advise, to maintain shorter leads?

When a lace maker reports this problem, the first advice I give is to be
sure the hitch is made correctly. But you have a lot of experience, and for
you, that can't be the problem. Another possibility would be to put an extra
twist on the loop before you stick the bobbin head into the loop.
Hi Sylvie,
We have been told when using a bolster, the bobbins need have alot of thread
wound around each one, gravity is a factor and threads tend to slip more with
minimum thread.
A bobbin winder would also help to achieve better tension than winding by hand.
A double hitch would be a good i
Hi Sylvie,
My beautiful Idrija bobbins are quite heavy! Also a factor, forgot to mention.
Worth the trouble though. Hope this helps! J

My friend does a lot of Idrijan lace on a bolster and has Idrijan bobbins.Â
She recently was in Slovenia and took lessons there. She reports that the
bobbins must be wound left-handed (backwards to us right-handed people).Â
Also, the thread does not stay well unless the bobbins are wound full.Â
