Hi Nicky,
I am lucky enough to be visiting the lace festival again this year in Tonder,
as well as going to Prague.
I will also be at Scarborough for the AGM.
See you there.

Nicki,
I shall be at the Lace Guild Convention in Scarborough. Spiders could
get together at the Civic reception on Friday evening or in the past
some do us have sat together on Saturday evening at the banquet. Anyone
else going?

Is there such a thing as a magnetic pin pusher? I'm thinking of something
like the magnetic screwdrivers that loosely hold on to the screw so all
you have to do is guide it into the hole and then screw it in.
Holding a fine pin, locating the pinhole with it and then pushing it in is
causing me
Hello all,
As far as I know, Point of Spain laces were worked ones in torchon and
other as plaited laces with gold and silver threads. (S. XV, XVI and
XVII), so at that time torchon technique existed yet.
You can find some information on the web:

Never fear, I have waved my wand and you are forgiven. With a bit of luck

There is something you could use - I've just been experimenting to see
if it works. It's used by needleworkers to thumb tack material or
canvas to a frame before embroidering, etc.
Hi all!
Thanks for your well wishes and congrats on my finished project! Yes, I will
be putting a photo of it on my web page, it's time to update it for the
commeratives anyway! I have already started two new projects. My first is a
simple yardage lace, I gotta use up 500+ bobbins with
Your mention of a bobbin lace shawl caught my attention. I'd really like to
make one but too new at this to design myself. I've been looking for
patterns. Any suggestions? Thanx Pat from PA where it's a sunny day at last

The only problem is in making modified equipment large enough to handle the
pattern and threadsOrdinary bobbins don't have enough storage space for
such thick yarn.
A friend made a shawl using fingering-weight yarn. She used spring-type

What about magnetizing a pin-pusher? Tools (if made of the correct
material) can be magnetized by rubbing them on a magnet or other methods.
But as Margot said the pins would need to be of the correct material also.

Sharon, this sounds very much like a recipe I've seen in one of my books at home. Does
your friend have any Middle Eastern connections? I recall a kind of cookie made in a
mold (I think it had nuts in it but I'm not positive) that would melt in your mouth
because it was made with very high
Sharon,
Now I see that I was conflating two different recipes. The ones that I recall that
were made in a mold were filled cookies. These are the melt-in-your-mouth walnut
cookies. They're very easy and quite good. Believe me, they're incredible when made
with butter.

Sharon,
This is the other recipe I was thinking of. These cookies are made in a mold and
stuffed with walnuts.

Dear Secret Pal:
I am just getting back online from being unable to access my computer while I moved.
I am slowly but surely catching up on all my lace emails.
However, I was so glad that my computer is now up and working so that I could say
thank you for your lovely gifts. I just received
Dear Helene,
Why wattle? It should be Flanders poppies for ANZAC Day!
To be strictly correct, the Flanders poppies were originally used on
Remembrance Day (Nov 11th). The strange thing is that these days I can
never get one to flower until about Nov 25th! All the local nurseries agree
with me.
Hi All,
I just wanted you to know that Noelene's latest poem about my foot
surgery came about after I moaned to her about not being able to make
lace outside in the gorgeous Denver sunshine (it was 70 on Monday), and
that I was thirsty and hungry and still had 3 hours to go to surgery.
She duly

Thank you so much for the package you sent. The thread is beautiful ... I
love the colors you have picked. I made a bookmark of the pink and green you
sent. It's a kind of funky tape lace flower. It's my favorite bookmark of
all that I've ever made... the only one yet that I've kept for myself!
Wow! Some jokes (maybe real stories??) that I don't remember seeing on
chat already !
