[lace] RE: lace-digest V2016 #103

2016-12-01 Thread Elizabeth Ligeti
I have sent both my Exchange cards, and scans of them have been sent to
Jenny.

I received my UK Lace Magazine, but there is still no sign of the IOLI
Bulletin, - so I must write to the Editor, and let her know. Others here in
Oz, don't seem to have received them either , as I have asked around to
check if I am the only one left out, - but I am not.

Thanks for the reminder, and link to the Advent Calendar. It is always fun.

2016-12-01 Thread Annette Meldrum
Thanks Jeri
I so enjoyed looking through the virtual catalogue. What a varied
collection.
Well worth the look! Some great detail about the apron in the opening
message.

Anyone interested in fashion and costumes, and how lace was sometimes used?
How about Royal garments?

Re: [lace] Re: Lace Facebook

2016-12-01 Thread Sue Babbs

Thanks, Janice, and well done for patiently working thro the Facebook pages.

No, no babies in the family yet. It was part of a challenge with Bobbi
Donnelly and Michael Guisiana to produce a Christening Outfit using the same
dress pattern. Bobbi, of course, did Tønder lace and I believe Michael was
going to do Binche lace, so I ended up with Torchon for contrast with the
others. The ribbon can be removed and replaced with blue if a boy turns up
and the parents will let him wear a dress!

A lot of the lace for the shawl was made while demonstrating lacemaking and
people always ask how long it too to make, so I have taken to keeping
records of most pieces that I do - and usually work to the nearest 5
minutes.

[lace] Re: Lace Facebook

2016-12-01 Thread Janice Blair
Sue,Found them.  I scrolled through all the messages on the Lace Guild
Facebook page and came across one which had a + sign on a photo around that
date, then clicked to see more messages on the same subject and eventually
came up with Sue's photos. Lovely christening outfits. The shawl is gorgeous
and I notice the pink lace on the gown so I guess you had a baby girl in the
family, or are expecting one. I liked that you kept note of the long hours and
even the extra 10 minutes that it took you to complete the ensemble.
Beautiful. Janice Blair Murrieta, CA, www.jblace.com

Our Arachne correspondence has nearly faded away, but there are still
things to learn here. I've not subscribed to Facebook, so still have some
items to share from time-to-time.
