Gwynedd came to Norfolk Lacemakers lace day this year as our speaker, what a
lovely knowledgable lady, we overran on her time but could have listened for
another hour. She brought some beautiful lace and a few got to wear some
pieces of her collection, one of my favourites was a lovely Bertha

didn't want to give it up, so I bought a polystyrene block and put an exact
copy pricking on it as I worked it I put the pins in the corresponding place I
learnt a great deal doing it that way as I progressed I slowly

sided stitch it is quite safe to cut right up to the stitches as it is so

About 15 years ago we had a Japanese girl called Setsuko Wanaka join our lace
classes she was over here with her husband who was working at Sanyo Television
in Lowestoft. She was brilliant I have never seen anyone learn lace so fast
she quickly went onto learn more types of lace before she and

I went on a tour and talk at The Royal School of Needlework a few years ago it
was a wonderful afternoon, the restoration work they were carrying out was
spectacular and how they save old pieces was an eye opener to me. If you get

Another useful tip I collected a while ago from Arachne was to purchase a fly

I was lucky enough to find at a car boot a very old sewing case which also
contained several packets of large darning needles, each packets holds 25
needles so plenty to share. Considering how old they were the needles are
perfect and very useful for sewing knitting etc as they have large eyes.

Having nearly come to the end of a very long term project of a wide tablecloth
edging, I have been contemplating joining it by the overlap method as I have
