[lace] Needlelace question

2011-12-29 Thread Jill T
Hi All

Just before Christmas I took a class in beginners Needlelace - which I really
enjoyed and would like to do some more.

Does anyone know where I can get some architects linen from?

Alternatively - what do people use as a replacement and how successful is it?

Many thanks in anticipation of your helpful answers

RE: [lace] Posh Bags - testimonials sought

2009-10-06 Thread Jill T
Hi Betty

I haven't been able to find any web sites for the Posh Bags people, but I do
own one of their bobbin bags and a pillow bag. I find the pillow bag a little
large, so don't use it much for carrying my pillow around, just to keep it
clean in the house, however I LVE the bobbin bag and take it with me
whenever I take my lace anywhere. I really wouldn't be without it.

Will send to the list if I find any web addresses.

With best wishes

RE: [lace-chat] elictricity

2007-03-26 Thread Jill T

Betty Ann

I travel to the States every year. All I take is a Travel Adapter that I
buy in the UK (they even sell them at the airports now, but more expensive
that is the stores), and plug whatever I want to use into that. If using
the travel hairdryer, I make sure that it is set to 120v instead of 240v,
but it's not a problem to use at 240v appliance on a 120v supply - it's the
other way round that causes problems! I've used the same travel adapter for
charging toothbrush, camera, camcorder etc when visiting the states and no
problems. It's just an adapter to allow you to plug our 3-pin (square)
plugs into your round sockets.

My partner uses rechargeable batteries for his camera and again he just
plugs the unit into the travel adapter before plugging it into the mains
with no problems.

Hope you find this useful.

[lace] Looking for a pattern...

2006-04-04 Thread Jill T
Hi All

My other half is a great fan of Racing cars - does anyone have a bobbin
lace patten (not too difficult) they can sell/lend me?

I recall seeing one on the back of an old Lace magazine (when the covers
were always blue) but I'm unable to find it again.

Any suggestions gratefully received.

Thanks,
Jill

[lace-chat] Piecework

2005-07-26 Thread Jill T

Lindy ( other UK, EU residents)

I now subscribe to Piecework and the price is very reasonable.
The first issue I subscribed to took ages to get to me, but now it arrives
as regular as clockwork!

It's easy to subscribe to via their webside (I can look that out if anyone
wants it) and the price is excellent, especially with the dollar exchange
rate as it is.

If anyone want the details, let me know and I send it to you all.
For the two of you who won the raffle, it's a lovely article and I hope you
both enjoy it very much.

With best wishes

Well I thought I'd read the text for it's amusement value and immediately
spotted the following within one of the paragraphs L.I.L Proof A

Rearrange the letters in quotation marks and you get = April Fool
I guess that answers it!

Tamara - it's beautiful and you do get a feeling of it's depth from the
photo.

Windrose #3/Windblown. It, too, is on its PO way, and it too will disappear
within a couple of weeks or so.
Well I guess I'm probably biassed as red is my favourite colour :)
Again, I really like this - too bad my work/lace time ratio is the opposite
way round to how I'd like it to be ;)
