A couple of months ago I wrote about the possibility of a new coloured linen thread becoming available. Well I now have a sample of the finest size which I have measured as 34 wraps/cm - heavy point ground or fine torchon thickness. The only problem is that fine linen is very expensive to

I am working in Cantu now and am not using very fine threads, but I would certainly pay that price for a fine Torchon project, if one came up. Sr. Claire - To unsubscribe send email to majord...@arachne.com containing the line: unsubscribe lace y...@address.here. For help, write to

Would you be prepared to pay 12-15 Euros, 10-12 GBP, 18-21 USD for a 250 metre spool of fine, coloured, linen thread? I have to side with Sue. I would not pay that price as I am not fond of linen thread and would stick with silk or cotton.  Jane O'Connor jjo...@sbcglobal.net New Lenox, IL USA

I probably would buy it. Can you let us know which suppliers might be stocking it. Obviously the Christmas Fair at Solihull would be a good place for it to be seen, or maybe Harrogate next year. Like most things I do like to see some before I commit myself. Maureen East Yorkshire -

I probably would only do so for a special project, to get 'just the right color'. Lorri I'm told that less than 5% of the crop is good enough for this fine thread and of course it would have to be reflected in the price. Would you be prepared to pay 12-15 Euros, 10-12 GBP, 18-21 USD for

I agree with Karenit would be worth the cost if the quality was high. I think that much of the displeasure with working with linen has to do with its slubbiness and inconsistency. If the finer linen reflected less of these properties, it would be very desirable. Vicki in Maryland
