Thanks for the compliment and I do wish that I was in the same class as
Robin and Tamara!!! I was also thinking about the decline in the interest
in the lace the other day and wondering if anything could be done about this
decline.

Maybe, as some people are still doing some design work, the way to spark
interest would be for those designers to send patterns for publication
in the various lace magazines - several will only publish things that
are not published elsewhere, but the wider the audience, the more likely

Dear Jeanette, et al,
The easiest way to stop the decline is to put the book back in print. My
'stockist' says it's out of print, and she's out of stock. If you can't get
the book, you go on to other laces where you can get the book, especially when
there's only one. This is where being

The book itself it not available for free download, at least I would be
very surprised if so. The author is careful to point out copyright, and use
of the book by individuals. I had a copy once, and sold it.

For some obscure reason Rosa Libre popped into my head this morning. Doesn't
seem to have been any mention of it since 2008. Is anyone making this type
of lace?

an interesting lace variation so I hope it isn't lost.
The one book out has very good directions for making the three dimensional

There are still a few of us playing with Rosa Libre. I was told (but
I've just finished my first rosa libre flower and it is so cute. I love the way
it ruffles and sort of ripples. Now I'm going to practice a leaf and then work
out a design for the top of a jewellery box that is crying out for 3D
decoration. Haven't had so much fun in ages

What the heck is Rosa Libre?
It's a new lace whose origins were strongly influenced by this Arachne
forum. From time to time the topic arises on this forum discussing the
relative health of lacemaking as an art form. My feelings about this
topic were many (don't get me started) but the relevant
