I quite like the way the IPL do their playoffs: top two play each other, with
the winner going to the final and the loser playing the winner of the match
between the lower two.
It means finishing higher earns you a second bite at the cherry, but also that
a team finishing stronger can come

Don't see it that way. Finishing 3rd to 6th qualifies you to this mini cup
called playoffs. Deserves a moment fitting the price.
