I see Lewis Cook has been called into the latest England squad perhaps his move to Bournemouth was not so bad after all for him (looked a football mistake earlier in the season when he failed to get in the team - always a good financial one) Fair play to the lad - he is our best youngster since Delph (and is on a par with him, Leeds wise) Dave ___ Leedslist mailing list Info and options: https://mailman.gn.apc.org/mailman/listinfo/leedslist To unsubscribe, email leedslist-unsubscr...@gn.apc.org Find us on Facebook https://www.facebook.com/groups/leedslist/ RIP Jimmy WAC-COE
Re: [LU] Cook
Hasn't he - allegedly - got a contract term enabling him to get a transfer back to Leeds if we ever get promoted? If that is actually the case, and in Jan we managed to get in or around the play-offs - then I'd say it's a different case. Still don't think it will happen though. Re: [LU] Cook
Disagree mate. I think it's make or break season, so I think we need to get behind Monk and the team. I see the Cellino out gang have found their voices on Twitter again after being very quiet over the last few weeks. That's fair enough but I think when it gets to that first game of the season we will be in the best position to see whether the manager has been backed or not and whether we are placed to challenge for promotion. The infuriating thing for me is the silence from the club. I'd like to know when Bournemouth made their bid, if we offered an improved to Cook, what was Monk's reaction given he pulled Cook out if the England squad and is Monk now happy given the £10 million transfer fee? My prediction is that he will back Monk and we will get top 6 this time around. > On 9 Jul 2016, at 09:47, Ian Murray <ianjamesmur...@hotmail.com> wrote: > > Cellino has to go. Bring in Crowe. Yep agree Dave, but I just can't. It's Bournemouth , it's a nothing place (and I have been back there since we trashed it) with a small time club. Re: [LU] Cook
I think I agreed mostly because of this, and I am a big Cook fan. I think 10 million is a huge amount of money for a 19 year old, but yes I always rated him. Conflicted, me? Having said that no manager seems to have worked out quite what he is - he does not score or make goals, he is not a sit in front of the back four midfielder and he is not a winger. More so than Howson and that was really bad. I blamed Bates big time for that one so I hold Cellino responsible for this especially as we know Monk wanted him to stay badly enough to pull him out of the England squad. I am however going to stay positive because I don't believe the recent signings were funded by Cook's sale and I'm hoping we now buy Bridcutt and one or two others. He is probably the best youngster we have had since Delph. Having said that no manager seems to have worked out quite what he is - he does not score or make goals, he is not a sit in front of the back four midfielder and he is not a winger. I will be sorry to lose him (although I do not blame him for going or Cellino / the club for not being able to keep him) but £10m is a good price, provided, and this is ALWAYS the big thing, we invest it in new players. Losing Cook and bringing in 2 good, experienced £4m midfielders will be good business, losing Cook and having the £10m disappear is not good. Bottom line - look at the first team and squad when the season starts / window closes and we can decide whether we have done good business and whether or not things are better than when last season shut etc dave From: Graham Farr <graham.f...@yara.com> To: "Leeds List (leedslist@gn.apc.org)" <leedslist@gn.apc.org> Sent: Friday, 8 July 2016, 15:49 Subject: [LU] Cook Having medical at Bournemouth now. *** NOTICE: This e-mail transmission, and any documents, files or previous e-mail messages attached to it, may contain confidential or privileged information. It is being reported that Lewis Cook has signed for 2 years (one year contract extension)I suppose , considering Matt Smith, that it does not mean much, if anything, but it does seem a step in the right directionHe has impressed this season but if he is to progress to the top level he needs to add scoring to his repertoire - his total lack of goals, and at times his Batty-esque refusal to shoot has been the one blight on his performances dave ___ Leedslist mailing list Info and options: http://mailman.greennet.org.uk/mailman/listinfo/leedslist To unsubscribe, email leedslist-unsubscr...@gn.apc.org MARCHING ON TOGETHER

Lack of goals never really bothered Batty - until he missed that pen !
