Those are formatting “codes” = Tab, Bold, Italic and so on. They should NOT show up as “text” or “inside text”, they should be HIDDEN code. I believe the “\” means switch = as in “\tab” = meaning switch to tab. I find them in many of the different notes sections, not just marriage notes.
