I'm using "The Complete Genealogy Reporter" (TCGR) to create such a report. I export my whole file (30 000 persons) to Gedcom and import it to TCGR. Then I select a person and request a report for his/her ancestors X generations backward. (or descents forward) with cousins, second cousins,

In more than 30 years with gen programs I have never used tagging (or focus groups). It's just never been something I needed. Apparently I am going to have to learn a new skill! On Sat, Sep 30, 2017 at 10:29 PM, Cathy Pinner wrote: > Cheryl, > If you need to use a variety

Cheryl, If you need to use a variety of Advanced tagging options to get the group of people you want to export, you just use the same tag number for each. Then you export the tagged group. Sometimes the easiest way to get most of the people you want is to set relationships to a key person

I'll try that. Thanks. On Sat, Sep 30, 2017 at 11:00 AM, JV Leavitt wrote: > No. My example was for descendants, but you can use the same Tagging > feature, only start by Tagging ancestors first. Tag any sections, > ancestors, and/or descendants, and/or individuals, and then

No. My example was for descendants, but you can use the same Tagging feature, only start by Tagging ancestors first. Tag any sections, ancestors, and/or descendants, and/or individuals, and then go to Export, and choose All records with an individual tag of: (select the Tag number you used),

If I use tagging I would need to export a file for each furthest ancestor and then merge them, no? On Sat, Sep 30, 2017 at 10:39 AM, JV Leavitt wrote: > The best method is to use the Tagging features. I often do this in a way > to include spouse's parents. If you first Tag

I did it. It doesn't include everything I want. (When I start with the youngest it drops his siblings for instance.) However, I can live with it. A bigger issue is the process apparently delinks people. I've tried it three exports three different ways (to see what I get) and I always get delinks

The best method is to use the Tagging features. I often do this in a way to include spouse's parents. If you first Tag all descendants, and then go to export, the program gives you the option of selecting all records with an individual Tag of: All their Spouses, and/or all their Children,

Yes there is. I did one for descendants, I really don't know if it can be done for ancestors. I'm sure someone has experience with this. I used a focus group to do it. Not much help, I am afraid.

I want to export a section of my file specific to my cousin. She's new to this, doesn't want or need my people who aren't related to her. I've tried a couple things but haven't gotten what I want. I am thinking it will involve a focus group. If I use an Individual and Ancestors it does not include
