Neither have I, and I definitely advise against using abbreviations in
locations, especially if you wish to publish, as very few will know what they
mean, especially for states, counties, provinces.

Brian,
I don't think it can be done from your Legacy program - not sure about LTools
though. It will be possible using Access.

I'm trying to find all individuals in my data base, alive in Munzesheim

Since I create an Event to record Birth, death and marriages, and I have

and I'd forgotten the details. The search I described won't do what
you've outlined here. It will find people born in a particular place in
a particular year, not people who may have been living in a particular

Brian,
Don't you mean death date after 1839? The problem is that this will give you
those who were not born before 1839. If you tag those who have an Event place
for Munzesheim then this will include those who lived there in any year, so
even if you then search this list for those born before
Are you sure all of your entries are spelled the same way?
The city in German is Münzesheim (that's Munzesheim with an umlaut on the u for
those whose computers put in ? instead of umlauts). Usually in English an
umlauted u is spelled Muenzesheim, but sometimes just plain ole Munzesheim.

My email doesn't have an umlaut icon as Legacy does.

Thanks for the location advice,
but I could really use some help listing who was alive in this town in a

Hi Barb.
Search Find Detailed Search Individual Death Place Contains Long
That would bring up the list of individual's Death Place of 'Long Beach'
or any other instance with 'long' in it.

Barb,
Please forgive me if this has already been asked of you.
Are you using Basic Legacy v7 or Deluxe v7? If basic, perhaps the more full
featured searches aren't available to you.

Barbara,
Spamming help groups with the same quesyion is never a good idea as it also
confuses the helpers! I have already answered this query, and I now see that
you have had more or less the same answer from someone else.
