Sorry, I may have misled, I want to use legacy and not TNG, I already
have a TNG site and I can never remember how to use it.
I was hoping that Legacy had a method to upload directly to a web site.

Joanne and Ian,
That's what TNG is all about! Basically, you simply upload your gedcom and
you're in business. Yes, you need to make a couple decisions then, but TNG
has some great tutorials that will take you through it. And you can choose

You use Tools - Manual Merge.
Make a backup before you start.
It looks more complicated than it is but it's best to be able to revert
to a backup and start again when you're learning a new feature.

In addition to what Leon has said, if you've been adding data to this

date you probably started using it and tag and export that tag group to
a new Legacy file then import that into the file you've accepted as the
I would love the same information regarding putting my Legacy Tree Info on a
private website so mama my relatives could see it.
Please let me know if anyone has a good system for this

I have a TNG site up but have no clue how to manage it and am far too slow
to remember the basics. I want to be able to just upload my data to a

Ugh. I hoped Shared Events would make my life easier ... now I'm not so

Here's what I want to do. I want a list of all users with a particular

is shared. In other words, a list of individuals where they are the
I have just started using shared events. Right now I use them for
obituaries to reference the relatives mentioned in the obituary. I intend
to also use them for census records similar to what Dennis is doing.

Do you have a backup of your database before this took place? If so, I would
restore that or start using that database.
If not, you will probably just have to open the last non-conflicted database

I use the shared event function primarily when recording census listings. I
track census listings primarily to identify who was then in the household. The

What are the pros and cons of using the share function for events vs using
a separate event of each thing for each person.
I remember that there were thoughts about each method.

Looks like you may have had the file open using two computers at the same time
using DropBox or some cloud storage.
If so, the cardinal RULE is: Use only one computer at a time to work on your
cloud stored database.
So, if you have your file open on one computer, be sure to completely exit
