Or you could just go the the FAG site and search there for O' names.

Although it took a little getting used to I find it relatively easy to use;
however...

I have many Irish surnames that begin with O' which FAG does not recognise via
the FAG search button in Legacy and consequently I have to edit the search to
get any results.

This I find frustrating and hopefully a code change will be made to cater for
this.

For other surnames the tool works extremely well.

Is it only in IE that these problems exist?

Good Morning,
The new site for FAG is awful and the clipboard function does not work very well
With the old site, it was possible to copy/paste the data into Legacy burial
notes with one step. Now it is jumbled and will need considerable tweaking to
be usable.

Obviously both Anc and FAG are trying to attract users of small mobile devices
to their sites. What they fail to understand is that any serious genealogist or
historian is not going to be using a 4 inch screen to do research.
It is just too hard on the eyes, even if they are 'young eyes'.

I am sorry to see the more 'flowery' interface, it is just not necessary.

Hi Rolf,

If you look at the Marriage/Relationship Information window, you'll see a box
that can be checked for "This couple did not marry" - in your situation, I'd
check that box.

You can also click on the Wording Options tab and choose your own terms of
choice.

Hope this helps. :-)

Re: [LegacyUG] Problem with Legacy Charting.

2017-11-13 Thread Cathy Pinner

Treerd,

This might help your Access Violation problem:

***
Sometimes it helps to reinstall just Charting.
Here's how:
Legacy 8 and 9

1) Close Legacy and then reboot your computer. This will ensure that all
Legacy components are really closed. Don't open Legacy.

2) Close Legacy. Navigate to the C:\Program Files(x86)\Legacy9 (or
Legacy8). If you have a 32 bit computer navigate to C:\Program
Files\Legacy9 (or Legacy8). Inside there you will see a folder named
LegacyCharting. Delete the entire folder. You will not be deleting any
of the charts that you have already made and saved.

3) Navigate to the Documents\Legacy Family Tree\ folder and open it
(this is the Windows Documents folder). Inside you will see another
LegacyCharting folder. Delete this folder too.

4) Now download the last update. This will recreate the folders you just
deleted

Legacy 9 http://www.legacyfamilytree.com/DownloadUpdate.asp
Legacy 8 http://support.legacyfamilytree.com/article/AA-00899

5) Now open Legacy and then Charting.

If you are still having problems after that, contact Support.

***
How recently did you purchase Legacy 8? Legacy 9 has been out since
April. Where did you purchase? You may find you qualify for a free
upgrade to 9 if you bought after 25 Nov 2016. Contact
sa...@legacyfamilytree.com

Hello

Recently Purchased Legacy 8 and all good except that I had to go into
Administrator to install Geo part of it. I think that Kaspersky was
stopping installation so will try with it off one day.

Problem is in Legacy Charting. Have embedded snapshot of problem

I run Windows 10.

Do I need to upgrade to Legacy Ver 9.
